What Conforto doesn't do to help us...he does to help the Marlins.

His error in RF on a single allowed the batter to take 2nd, who later stole 3rd...and then scored on a sac fly.

1-0 Fish...heading to the 4th.

I like Baez...and I'm happy we got him no doubt about it.
But so far today he has the hat trick.kk...and it's only the 5th inning.
He likely has 2 more AB's in this one, and could end up with a golden sombrero or the platinum dunce cap.

Yikes.

Meanwhile Rich Hill is still cruising...and is at 80 pitches thru 5.

Still 1-0 fishies....heading to the 6th

WTF has gotten into Almora?
Dude was hitting .097 on the big team when he got recalled a few days ago...and now has half of the Mets 6 hits today.
(2 singles & a double)....now swells his avg up to .141 LOL

Edit:
Nimmo comes in to PH for Hill with 2 outs and Almora on 2nd.....and he worked a walk.

2 on now for Villar.

YES.
Villar ties it up 1-1.
Clutch 2 out rbi knock...scores Almora.

C'mon Pete...your turn.

edit:
Pete works a walk after falling behind 0-2.
Bags full of Mets.
C'mon Dom!

New fish pitcher coming in...
Hopefully Dom has a patient approach here.
We don't need 1st pitch swinging with the bases loaded.

Well Dom gets ump jacked...2 balls called strikes...then he swung at one and flied out.

Damn...Baez now has the Golden Sombrero.
4 whiffs....and now after the Davis walk... 6 LOB.

More stagnation ensued....as Conforto & McCann both grounded into force outs.

Still tied heading to the stretch.

Drew Smith coming in.

Rack up 2 more whiffs for the Mets hitters today. ( 9 so far)..and they've actually also walked 7 times.

Go figure. Talk about a dichotomy.

Whether the Mets win this one or lose....fun times await in Philly this weekend.

Should be a real hum dinger of a series.

:dhd:

1-1.. mid 8th.
Familia coming in.

Familia gets a 1st pitch out..then gives up a walk which earned a mound visit...then gave up a single.

And then another single..which gives the Marlins a 2-1 lead.
Confirmed after the Mets challenge.

Oh good...more nice button pushing by Luis Rojas.

Not sure how or even why he still has this job...as it's now 4-1.

It only took Familia 1 pitch to get the 1st out....but just 13 more to give up 3 runs.

Mets floundering in the fish tank.

And although it was during the previous regime...Willie Randolph was canned for so much less...and unjustly.

But I digress.

Pete reached on an error....Davis walked.
Baez is now the tying run at the plate...with 1 out.

Yep...you guessed it.
Baez ends the day with an 0-5...all K's....and gets the dreaded Platinum Dunce Cap.
He also ended up with 8 LOB.

Conforto singled to load the bases yet again today.
How many times is that now for the Mets in this one?.....3 or 4??

Brandon Drury came in to PH for *McCann with the bases loaded and 2 outs.
* What that says about the "confidence" Rojas in McCann is troubling.

Drury ended up with an rbi single to make it 4-2...so I guess the blind squirrel (rojas) found 1 nut at least.

Almora grounded out to end it...but why wasn't Pillar or even Nido called on to hit in that particular spot??

Mets lose 4-2...and lost the series 3-1.
Now they head to Philly with their tails between their legs.

Hey, Rojas.....none of it has been working lately.
Maybe you're the problem?

Mets hitters ended up leaving 31 runners on base total....15 of which were in scoring position.

Up Next:
Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (7-10, 2.80 ERA) will start the opener of a three-game series at Philadelphia on Friday.

You cannot lose a series at this point to the Marlins, it's completely unacceptable. The cone from behind wins, the magic from the first half, none of that matters right now. This offense needs to get going immediately.

I'm willing to bet Conforto has cost himself $120 million. He'll probably get a QO for $20 and try to prove himself again next year but man, wtf is going on?

Not sure what the heck is going on with these guys.....but I do know I'm done with Rojas and his post game platitudes after these kinds of losses.

The Phillies came back earlier today and beat the Nats....so we're going into an active buzzing hornets nest this weekend.
As of tonight we're still in 1st place, but it's just a very precarious half game lead over them now...and we could end up leaving in 2nd or maybe 3rd place by Sunday night depending on what Atlanta does with Washington.
That said...this losing also can come back to haunt us record wise down the road if/when it all gets down to wild card scenarios by late September.
