Mets lead in the NL east is now down to just 1.5 games over Philly and 2.5 over Atlanta.

I don't like the sound of this, and I've heard it all before......but I sincerely hope I'm wrong this time.

Mets are ahead 3-0 in the middle of the 5th which is a good thing....but I'm still not seeing the urgency.
What I do see is complacency. 3 runs probably won't be enough, and I'd really like to see the Mets extend that lead.
Carrasco so far has been solid thru 4..and I hope he can go at least 2 more innings.

And just a minute or 2 after posting that ^ Carrasco gave up b2b singles, then a 1 out PH rbi single....

It's now 3-1...w/ runners at the corners.....and now he's pulled....

Aaron Loup is taking over.

Edit...

Loup gets a ground ball force out at 2nd...but another run scores.....then a K to end the 5th

3-2 game now...heading to the 6th.

Familia comes in and only 4 pitches in gives up a solo HR that ties the game 3-3.
Then a 1 out double.

Too predictable

Marlins aren't playing like the doormats they are...and the Mets aren't playing or looking like the division leader they are.

Mets only have 3 hits in this game.....their 3 runs were scored on 2 FC's, shaky fish defense, and a sac fly.
Marlins have 7 hits so far.

3-3 after 6.

Nido goes 1st pitch swinging....and it's already 1 quick out.
Drury grounded out PHing for Familia. 2 down
Nimmo hit a 2 out single...
McNeil doubled...sending Nimmo to 3rd...
Pete gets IBB'd.....to load the bases.
Dom for some reason (with the bases full) also went 1st pitch fishing....but came up empty and flies out.

BUPKIS!

Stretch time....3-3.

Also...Phillies are leading late in their game.

Fun times.....:tsk:
And the dog days have only just begun.

Our offense has been stagnant all year. Great pitching saved us the first half but it has regressed a bit and the offense is no longer being bailed out.

The ongoing lack of discipline at the plate and making way too many faux pas and unproductive outs in many key hitting situations is alarming....and also frustrating...because we know they're better than that.

Mets get a gift run there with 2 outs on a passed ball...but hey, we'll gladly take it.
Conforto scores from 3rd after leading off with a single.
5-3 Mets

Now we have the bags drunk again....
Pete coming up.

Yikes....talk about not getting it done.
Mets hitters have left a ton of runners on base tonight....
24

That really needs to be addressed.

And yet they somehow have a 2 run lead heading to the bottom of the 9th.

Trevor May is on the hill....and hopefully to shut the door on this one.

Mets won 5-3.

Ex Marlin Miguel Castro's 1-2-3 7th, was credited with the Win.
Drew Smith threw a 1-2-3 8th, for the Hold. Trevor May earned the Save..with 1-2-3 9th.

To say that was desperately needed would be a huge understatement.

The Wrap/Recap....

The Box....

The Pics....

Up Next....

Mets will try to get a 2-2 series split with a win in Thursday's finale.
LHP Rich Hill (6-4, 4.10 ERA) will start the matinee getaway game for the Mets. The Marlins, who had penciled in Trevor Rogers before placing him on the family medical emergency list Tuesday, were undecided on their Thursday starter.

Mets load the bases right out of the gate in the top of the 1st
Viilar singled...Alonso walked...Smith singled to shallow right...

Then of course...
JD Davis whiffed (not sure why he's batting cleanup)

Baez also whiffed (he should've been in the cleanup spot)

(But right now that seems moot)

Conforto flied out.

Major Fail.

Lord Have Mercy.

Good Morning or afternoon, guys.
How's everyone doing?

:D

If that was any indication of how this one goes.....then we're screwed.

It's pretty bad when watching this series, and if you didn't know any better, there'd be no way you'd be able to tell which team was the division leader..and which team was in the cellar.

0-0 heading to the 3rd.

LFGM!
