49ers CB Carlos Rogers' $5.5 million base salary became fully guaranteed when he was kept on San Francisco's roster through April 1.
The fact first appeared on the SB Nation blog Niners Nation and has since been confirmed by Joel Corry of the National Football Post. The signing of Nnamdi Asomugha is no threat to Rogers' roster spot. He'll also collect $350,000 in offseason bonuses. Rogers turns 32 in July. His play has slipped off a career year in 2011, but Rogers remains a solid and versatile cover corner.

You're always trying to move one of our CB's to safety. First it was Clements and now it's Rogers or culliver. I'd rather draft a replacement then have one of our corners switch positions, but that's just me.

Culliver sucks a$$ as a corner. I too propose to switching him to FS where he has had experienced playing in his days at the fake USC.

Oh, thanks Ray. Never mind that idea then.

ya i thought culli shoulda been covering boldin

He tried and got beat up. He gave up something close to a 50 yard completion in a freaking 3rd and long situation. That drive led to their first TD of the game. He screwed the defense up big time during that drive.

Rogers plays the slot anyway. If he's worth even keeping on the roster at his salary & isn't starting, I don't see any reason Culliver shouldn't play FS. It at least gets him on the field.

With Nnamdi on the roster, however, I don't know that Rogers is even worth keeping. However, it only helps to cut him if another starting caliber player from another tean gets cut because, outside of Abraham, there really isn't anyone left in FA who can help all that much.

would assamooga even beat out rogers?

Obviously he had a terrible performance in the Super Bowl, but has he really done that bad of a job? I need to work on finding his QB rating when the ball is thrown his way. 'm sure it's a lot lower than anyone expects.

Lovin it.

We got Asomugha and Dahl for a fraction of the price of Goldson.

We'll draft a safety high (in the 1st or 2nd round) so I don't envision Dahl as a long term starter but instead as a guy who can start in a pinch plus a special teams contributor, also he takes few penalties.

Cully is a very promising young CB, who played safety in college. I can't seem to find it but I know his QB rating when thrown at was very low...somewhere around 70 and so was Brown's. Rogers was the highest out of the 3 at closer to 90. I could be wrong, but that's what I recall seeing.

Cully didn't have his best playoffs but you have to give him credit for being in position to make plays...he just didn't execute and bat the ball down when he was there. I'm not worried about him...he'll come in very hungry this year. He's shown he has the talent, now he needs to put it all together and focus.

Nice, cheap deal for us. Hopefully he can turn back the clock.

I was slightly concerned about how he would play if signed by SF when I read his 2012 QB rating against, but since the departure of Scotty McDrunkerstein I trust the professionalism of the organization and the coaches/coordinators abilities to get the most out of the team.

I think he will be fine. We will be asking him to probably play up close to the line on the other teams big receivers who he can get physical and run with. He will also benefit from our pass rush and run stopping ability.

maybe a "situational" CB, for when the opponent is inside our 10 yard line?

He was getting abused before the SB. There were reports of him prior to the game having the tendency to give up the big plays on a consistent basis. He is a #3 cornerback on our roster for a very good reason. Coaches rather target Revis, Sean Smith, now Nnamdi instead of putting trust in Culliver to take on a starting role. He is what he is, the coaches are telling us something about him and fans are still in denial. This is mind boggling that no one seems to realize about our conerback position.

Dahl should not even be mentioned. He's this year's version of Rock Cartwright but on the defensive side. We will draft a safety or two in the draft, plus I still believe that we will move Culliver over to safety which will then make Dahl expendable. Culliver will play both safety and corner for us in a back up role. No way on earth is he better than Rogers or Nnamdi.

Go to this link:Brian Quick, WR for the St. Louis Rams at NFL.com
then click on the video titled: "QB Bradford to WR Quick, 36-yd, pass, TD"

Tell me if it was a "playoffs" issue that plagued him throughout the season.

Scratch that; Richard Seymour is still out there too. I forgot about him because he's done a disappearing act in the news. I'd take Seymour over Rogers for 1 year now.

Jason Cole:

Source says Seymour will probably only continue to play next year if he gets paid a lot. Practice structure in offseason also a ?
