Phillies are poop right now but overall you have to like what Dombrowski did at the deadline considering the seller’s market and the price paid. The Phils got a RH hitter that hits lefties well to play left and there’s a platoon of Marsh/Rojas in CF now. They added a guy who can close in the pen. They also added a lefty arm to help in case Alvarado can’t get it back. They did all of this without giving up any of the top 10 guys in their system. They did give up two arms in the 20s that most think would have cracked top ten in the next round of rankings.
All told, a very solid to great deadline for Dombrowski. I want to echo his comments. If 1-7 in the lineup don’t hit, and the starters don’t pitch well and go deep, none of this is gonna matter anyway. Phils need to pull their heads out of their ass.
