That's almost entirely due to their record against three teams: St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Chicago.

For those of you that don't speak Hu, this translates to "their losing record is almost entirely due to when that mean MLB made them play teams that don't suck."

Eh. That's almost entirely due to their record against three teams: St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. The Mets are 18-12 against the NL West and 7-7 vs. the AL.

The flip side of this is that their winning record is almost entirely due to their record against the Phillies and Marlins.

The Mets are eight games over .500. Their record against PHI & MIA (two of the three worst teams in baseball is 17-5). If they played a balanced schedule, they'd be a sub .500 team.

This is wild.

Nearly a third of the Mets' games this year have been against CIN, MIL, MIA, COL, PHI. They're 27-8 in those games.

That means they're 37-48 when they're not playing the five worst teams in the majors.

You still here?

Don't you have a Lebron jersey to burn, or something?

Mets to skip Harvey's next start. I'm going to be fucking pissed if I don't get to see deGrom (whose scheduled to start), Harvey or Syndergaard next Saturday.

You mean you didn't get tix in anticipation for a Bartolo Colon start?

I don't get it. What's the point of having a manager if he's not going to manage his team in any way other than the "book". Hey Matty, Janssen didn't have it last night. He didn't have it the night before, either. Use your magical "managerial powers" and do something like pitch your supposedly "best" relief pitcher with the game on the line.

Can we just hire an actual book that players can consult during the game instead of paying a manager? It'd have to save the Lerners some money, if nothing else.

$16.97. I'm sure the Nats can afford it.

Yes! Except that book probably has correct baseball percentages, and not the old-school "this is the way it's always been done so it is the only way it can be done, and I feel it in my gut!" book that MW follows.

Yup. It's a great book.

But the Nats are only 4 games out with the Mets coming to town for a 3 game set. I'm going to bet on the Nats winning the series so let's say they take 2 of 3 which means they'll be just 3 out.

The Nats schedule for the rest of the year before playing the Mets in the final series of the year looks like this:

3 @Miami
3 @ Philly
4 VS Miami
3 VS Baltimore
3 VS Philly
1 VS Cincy
3 @ Atlanta
