Jackson, just two years into a five-year, $51 million extension, is slated to make $10.25 million in base salary in 2014. The Eagles would take a dead-money cap hit of $6 million this year if they dealt Jackson, but wouldn’t owe him the $30 million in base salary over the next three seasons that he’s signed to collect.

I would do it. We would only have to pay him 4.25 million for this year. Plus if we dont want to keep Crabtree after this year D-Jax could take his place.

If his base salary is 10 million how are we going to get away with only paying him 4?

As a WR, Crabtree > Djax... sorry all...

take away Djax deep pass, what does he do? nothing.... he's super fast n quick but he's still very containable believe it or not. I would welcome it obviously but I wouldn't want him over Crabtree TBH.

Would love to have Jackson on this team. But could we afford both him and a crabs contract extension? Probably not.

Cuz the Eagles have to pay 6 million of his 10 million.

Of his base salary? That's weird, I've never heard of that before, gotta link?

I see that they would have a dead money hit of 6 million, but I assume that's just signing bonus. Where does it say that would come out of his base salary?

This is tempting.

I really want one of the top receivers coming out though. That seems like the more reasonable route to go to be cap healthy and long term future of our team.

Best part he is from the University of Cali. This would be great for SF. I do think it would cost us Crabtree unless we let Iupati and some others walk so we can resign Crabtree and then let Boldin walk after next year.

YEAR BASE S. BONUS MISC. CAP HIT DEAD
2012 750,000 2,000,000 250,000 3,000,000 -
2013 6,750,000 2,000,000 250,000 9,000,000 12,500,000
2014 10,500,000 2,000,000 250,000 12,750,000 6,250,000
2015 9,750,000 2,000,000 250,000 12,000,000 4,000,000
2016 8,250,000 2,000,000 250,000 10,500,000 2,000,000

This is his break down so I guess we would actually have to pay 6.5 million for this year. We are just over 4 million in cap space so we have to move shit around.

I'd be happy with the Pats giving up a 3rd for Jackson.

I like Jackson as a player, just not on the 49ers. We don't use 3 WR sets on offense enough to make it worth it IMO and I don't necessarily see that changing with adding Jackson. I just don't think we value/rely on the WR position as heavily as the rest of the league.

Also, the only player (somewhat similar to Jackson) that I can think of having success in Harbaugh's offense is Chris Owusu at Stanford.

Desean to SF for a 3rd, Crabtree to Carolina for a 3rd? Everyone wins!
