My biggest worry about all this contention is that someone in the NHL and NHLPA should've been taking notes on the public perception of these types of talks and I hope above all hopes that this doesn't turn into something that works yet again against the league's already struggling penetration into less popular areas.

I liked the idea a lot, not gonna lie. I was looking forward to the new format next season.

I liked the switch up...because it was something new and fresh, and I looked forward to that. Looking back, there are some kinks that need to be smoothed over. I.E. the playoff setup.

Screw the Winnipeg Thrashers. I hope that they get put in a Florida-only division, since we can't send them to the KHL. They should feel lucky to have not lost their team yet... again.

I second that.

If the NHL sticks to that previous plan, and we retain the old Atlantic division, plus Washington/Carolina! My God, that will be murderer's row:gaah:

in the BOG's defense, the caps suck at the moment :thumb:

unbalanced divisions are retarded though, i really hope we can avoid that at all costs

The only real difference between Atlanta and Phoenix is that Glendale was willing to put up $25 million (twice) to keep the Coyotes.

Yeah screw this. Why do we need to do a complete realignment? Why not just swap Winnipeg with one of those island of misfit time zone central teams?

i'm fine w/ complete realignment, and even like the divisional playoff idea, but unbalanced divisions are stupid. if you want to go back to 4 divisions with divisional playoffs, either add two teams, or do what you should do, and contract two teams.. before you do it

I think there's a 99% chance that we will see 32 teams in the not too distant future (3 to 5 years)

Oh yeah, its coming. Honestly while I prefer 30 teams (28 too) I think 32 will be fine. The lack of quality goalies and defensemen may make for some pretty entertaining games.

i dont really care for moving any teams at this time. I want to lower it by 2 and spread the wealth across the league. get more exciting hockey going and then look to proper expansion in Seattle and possibly Southern Ontario. but that S. Ontario team would come with a massive entry fee just to get the leafs to approve.

it will be massive but the leafs will be ok with it even if it isnt

Freidman:
22. The Toronto expansion craziness has died down, but there are quite a few people who believe that if there are two teams in the area, Rogers will own one and Bell the other. They presently share Maple Leafs ownership.
