now with map, showing Florida's fucked-edness

That is moderately retarded...

So they really couldn't put NYR and NYI in the division with Boston and the Canadials? You know, the Nash / Columbus rivalry that they are inevitably going to try and force down our throats won't last forever...

Devils and Rangers are roughly 7 miles from one another. Can't split those teams up. Philly is only about 90 minutes from NY as well.

Reminds me of USA politics.

Everyone wants whats best for themselves and we end up with the 4-5th best solution due to compromises

Fair enough. NJD, NYR, NYI move to "C". Detroit and the two Florida teams "D".

Why are the Florida teams in Division C?

They want to be in the same division so their rivalry could continue, but they can't be in B because they don't want to hurt their TV revenues due to time differences, but they cant be in D because that would put too much teams in the division, but they can't be in C because it doesn't fit geographically and will add a lot to travel expenses, and they clearly can't be in A....

C is the least inconvenient but Detroit wants to move east, but moving Detroit east means that Columbus should logically move east also, so with Detroit in the east and Columbus in the east the playoff format is unbalanced, but that also creates division B with no natural rivals leaving it a really crappy division.....

FUCK IT LETS JUST DO SOMETHING SO WE DON'T HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS FOR 2 YEARS

Western Conference

Pacific Division: Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose and Vancouver.

Mid-West Division: Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis and Winnipeg.

Eastern Conference

Central Division: Boston, Buffalo, Columbus, Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Toronto.

Atlantic Division: Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, N.Y. Islanders, N.Y. Rangers, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Washington.

IMO, that is what the divisions should be.

It makes perfect sense for the FLA teams to be in C - just think of all those fans from cold weather cities wanting to get the hell out of the freezing weather for a few days by going to FLA.

I mean what else could it be?

:noidea:
