Bengals reading John Ross. Want him for a 5th round pick?

No... total bust
How is he a bust? He's only been in the league for two years on a mediocre team. Heck, for a mid round pick I would certainly do it. Change of scenery and going into a positive environment like the Eagles, he may have an immediate impact for our offense deep ball.

I would absolutely take a chance for a 5th round pick. Ross was a beast in college and last season was really his rookie season as injury robbed him of his rookie season. I get that he had a bunch of drops last season and the coaching staff put him in the doghouse for not having come back to the QB a few times, but again ... it was pretty much his rookie season! Ross still became a terror in the Red Zone with 5 Red Zone TD's and 7 altogether. That's more TD's than Alshon Jeffery last season. No brainer for me for a 5th rounder ... even at a 5 mil price tag.

I remember him being compared to Deshon coming out of Washington. I absolutely give a 5th to get him. We gave a 3rd for 1/2 a season of Golden Tate.

John Ross for Agholor and bring back JMatt for slot. Thats a more rounded WR room IMO. If Ross doesnt pan out you don't lose much

Cincy's Offense is very vanilla ... Dalton's not really a good deep ball guy and Ross is a speed guy, not really a contested catch guy. Not to mention Dalton missed 5 games and his replacement was even worse. I think a fresh start with a more innovative Offensive team would do wonders for Ross. I can't imagine a guy with great college production, an explosive first step, great quickness and overall phenomenal speed is a bust after 1 year of play.

Eagles "Very High" on David Montgomery, and could make him a 2nd round pick. One expert even compares him to Barkley, except he doesn't have 4.3 speed. Another scout compares him to Kareem Hunt (without the baggage)If he runs a 4.4, watch the Eagles make a move to get him early n the 2nd. It sounds like Howie will be making a lot of moves this year,

That’s hardly a good barometer to use to justify future moves.

As for Ross.....5th is worth checking out the promise I think. 6th would be ever better (says Captain Obvious)

I think there's a good chance we look to add RB in free agency and keep a 3 headed RB mix. Tevin Coleman, Latavius Murray, Mark Ingram, CJ Anderson (LeG Blount 2.0), Mike Davis, Spencer Ware and TJ Yeldon would be options.

If we do go via the draft ... I love Devin Singletary from Florida Atlantic (assuming Josh Jacobs goes Rd 1). Dude is fantastic at making defenders miss with jump cuts between the tackles. He also can take it outside for the big play; very difficult to bring down. He reminds me of Brian Westbrook.

I do like Montgomery as well ... but yet another kid whom I've really grown to like is Treyveon Williams from Texas A&M. Rankings have him going in the 3rd to 5th round, but he has an explosive skill set as a runner. If we don't go RB early and he's available in Rd 4 I'd snatch him up.

My main dude at WR Hakeem Butler (whom I started this thread with :)) measured in with an 84" wingspan and almost 11" hands at 6'5" 3/8 227 lbs. If this kid runs anywhere under 4.55 he may go Rd 1; maybe even to us :)

The Mock Draft Machine by Draft Network is a cool new program to run your own mock. It is considered a little more realistic than some of the other programs like this, like Fanspeak On The Clock. Seems similar to me, actually.

The Draft Network

Not so much, ran a draft it showed devin bush going in the middle of the second round. WTF?

Hakeem Butler did 18 on bench press despite his ridiculously long arms. He measured at 6'5" with 10-inch hands. He's also been working out with Megatron. He might not last to our second rounders if he runs below 4.6 in the 40.

Why do you think that is so crazy? He is an undersized WILL. Good prospect but many teams don't even run a 4-3 defense.

You won't find a draft out there from the 'experts' that sees him falling that far.

Metcalf runs a 4.33 forty!! If he can, and runs crisp routes, he may be a top 10 pick, at least top 15.
