dont get me wrong, i'd prefer mason, but i'm not hitting the panic button. emery has played solid in the net, the team just needs to rally around this and score some goals for him.

guess it's a good thing berube used emery so much down the stretch to keep him fresh....

We score less goals per game with Emery in the net.

...aaaand of course it was a penguin who injured him. typical. not panicking, but this definitely sucks. especially because mason didn't even get to get a solid groove going, when he comes back he will be playing kind of cold.

but regardles..

emery's career record against the rangers is pretty decent if i remember correctly

not an inherent emery problem. if the offense goes cold because we changed goaltenders, there's something more wrong with this team than we all thought.

We just need to play a very physical game and we can win this series regardless of who our goalie is. Aside from Boyle and Nash, their forwards are small and/or fragile. They are already without Kreider, who had our number a bit this season and was second in hits among their forwards. We know McD isn't exactly 100%.

Rinaldo and L. Schenn have to bang bodies and we need more of that physicality out of guys like Hartnell, Simmonds, B. Schenn, Grossmann and especially Coburn. Even a guy like Raffl has put up 113 hits this season in only 68 games. We need more of that. It has to be a team effort. If this weakens them in any way across a long series or draws them into playing a style of game they don't normally play, it will benefit us.

I sort of expect to drop the first game or two, but if we stick with it, the last three to four games of the series could be ours.

Megna better hope it's not Philly vs Pitt in round 2. I don't think he will like the retribution...

Hopefully the retribution would be by way of winning the series, not by pulling another Rinaldo and jeopardizing the Flyers chances of winning.

Emery's career stats vs Rags:

7-2-0, 1.87, .936

While this may be true, he gave up 4 goals on 35 shots in his only meeting with them this season. I'm not at all confident in him. I am however confident in the team in front of him, so we'll see what happens.

You don't expect there to be a lull in the play of a team when they start one goalie instead of another in the playoffs, but that definitely appeared to be the case more times than not when Emery started this season.

Yikes. That likely means it's Emery for at least the first 2 games.

Can't afford to lose anything in NYC. I don't want to play the Rangers, but I really don't want to play in MSG.

What is exactly the issue with Mason?? I have watched the play over and over from the other night to see where this "upper body injury" takes place and I still don't see it. His head never hits the crossbar, no stick to the face, etc, like I stated before the only thing out of the ordinary was his one leg got caught under him and was bend in an awkward position. This makes no sense to me that he is out for the first couple games, especially when the team needs him the most when the games finally have meaning!

From what I read his head snapped back on the play and it's a neck injury. Like whiplash or something.
