I am wondering if this has conference expansion ramifications.

With their own network deal that will probably provide middle level football income, as well as other income from the ACC in non-football sports, this takes ND out of the ACC financial picture. I've felt that ND to the B1G train left the station a while ago. I don't see this having any affect on the ACC teams people like to think are interested in the B1G.

I'll look forward to more news - how much? - and analysis.

Being an SU fan and SU just moving to the ACC, I was hoping ND was considering going all in at the end of 2015. :gaah: That isn't happening.

I can't blame ND though. If they can continue to make money without sharing.....they might as well. But the role they played in the Big East is not a positive one. :rip: I hope the ACC can manage them better than the Big East did. :frusty:

Maybe I just don't have all the facts, but how would it make sense for ND to join a conference? It seems as though they'd lose out on money as the NBC deal is more than other teams are getting from their conference networks and any bowl game they go to is 100% their money, no splitting it up with the conference.

It isn't as lucrative as you'd think. Or at least as I thought. I am seeing numbers of about $15 million per year. I don't know what their ACC share is for non-football, but if you add those up it isn't any more than the schools get in the other conferences, and substantially less than the schools will get once the networks are set up (or in the case of the B1G that they are already getting from the the BTN).

My guess is that it is enough that they can enjoy being independent for the most part (I think they have to play 5 ACC teams each year now, or something like that).
