Interesting.

I think this is the right call.

I never thought the hammer should have fallen on Penn State as hard as it did. Everyone affiliated with the scandal lost their job and some are in jail and/or facing criminal charges.

No reason to punish kids and a new administration that had nothing to do with it.

Maybe the NCAA was nervous that no other B1G teams would be bowl eligible

I can only think of 2-3 schools the NCAA would do this for. The list of schools they wouldn't do this for is a hell of a lot longer. It's not a question of whether or not the initial penalty was fair; it's a matter of some schools are the NCAA's darlings and there are some schools who would still be sitting in the outhouse riding out the sanctions.

meh... USC violated NCAA rules. What Penn State did was despicable but I'm not even entirely sure they should have been punished at all. The individuals involved, of course. But the football program itself, I'm not so sure...

Good. Those NCAA azzholes had no right to do this to begin with.

You're making it sound as if PSU broke NCAA rules, which obviously wasn't the case.

Ray rice fired for punching a woman
Penn state walks after facilitating rampant child r*pe.

PS: almost all programs that get punished after the perps are long gone, and 100% of the time players and staff live under pubishments for which they had nothing to do with the allegations. Nothing new there. PSUs program failed to meet the standards of the ncaa and society, so its program gets punished. Pretty simple, really.

Just saw that. Great news for PSU and IMO the right thing to do.

The NCAA hammered them hard, but that provided the motivation to deal with everything. You figured the NCAA would lighten things at the end.

The USC situation is different and they shouldn't be compared.

From what I've read the Penn St. Board of Trustees is still a den of corruption, but that ultimately is the schools deal , not the NCAAs.
