Kind of a tough call with Tomlin. Dudes never had a losing season, but if memory serves, the last time they won a playoff game was when he had Ben.

Starting Wilson looked good for the first few games...but then he turned into Old Russ which is basically a little more mobile version of Old Ben.

He probably should have at least pulled Wilson in the 2nd half of one of those games to see what Fields could do.

I don't think there's any mystery left in what Fields can do. He's had a lot of opportunity thus far. Barring some miracle fit with an OC somewhere, he's a bottom third starter/ upper third backup.

If Detroit had a healthy defense.....I'd say Lions should win fairly easily.

However, how banged up they are......the Commanders have a chance with their offense vs that defense.

Well he will be, Dallas has ceedee lamb and pretty much nothing else.

It will be interesting.

Assuming he lands there, he will prove once and for all if he is a good coach.

Doesn’t take much to upgrade from what Chicago had this season.

They have talent to win some games in Chicago for sure. But they need that leader.

Yeah. I agree 100%.

He is a great coach/leader of men.

But I just don’t think you can win against good teams consistently playing defense, run first football and kicking on 4th and short.
didn't play that way when Big Ben was still Big Ben.

I don't think you can win consistently with badly regressing Ben, Wilson, Fields, Rudolph or Pickett.

Maybe or maybe he sees all he needs to see with Fields in practice. Instead of ripping the guy (and not saying you have) for making the playoffs all those times and/or no losing seasons but no playoff wins I'd be inclined to credit the guy for that with the QB play he has had the last half decade or so.

Possible they need to move on and find a different voice? Sure...but also possible they do that and experience what pretty much every NFL fan has seen and their team screws up a coaching hire...or 3.

Maybe. But Fields did start the first 6 games and the Steelers were 4-2.

Interestingly, statistically speaking, they're basically the same guy.

That is true.

But to me, when you have Russ and Fields, it is even more important for the coach to find a way to leverage extra possessions by making those 4th and short plays.

Better for who?

Not Caleb Williams.

He needs an innovative offensive mind who can scheme some easy throws.

Not a coach who runs a vanilla read and react offense. Think that will be hard for a young QB still learning his position.

When was the last time the Bears had a coach who added value?
Maybe Lovie Smith :noidea:

Disagree...sort of.

I don't think pure run first football is coming back...but running the ball is becoming a thing again and we're starting to see a better run/pass mix on some of the better teams.

Agree that he needs to be less conservative on 4th and short though...too much settling for field goals and/or trying to play the field position game when you could have continued a drive by converting on 4th and short can cost your team games.

I would rather see them go after a first timer.

Make a play for Ben Johnson. See if you can get him.
The Raiders are interested in him. But, I honestly would prefer Pete Carroll who they are also interested in. Tired of these first timers who don't pan out......or fucking McDaniels.....SMH.

Just like I would prefer a vet signal caller this offseason rather than a young signal caller who will have ups and downs.

Maybe....but when your coach is more a defensive guy (I think?) that is more on the OC. does he hire the wrong OCs? That's a real possibility.
