You do realize if the game was tied after both teams had a possession then next score wins right?

Of course, but you shouldn't need more than a quarter to get that lead. If the first team to score in OT can hold that lead for 15 minutes, that should be a win (never hasn't been).

Playoff OT is not finite. They might as well not even keep a game clock. It really doesn’t matter.

If tied. If one team has a lead at the end of the first OT period, game over. They "fixed" something that didn't need fixing.

Basketball is a global game, so it's not a fair comparison though and a much more difficult target. Football means something completely different to most of the rest of the world.
I understand that hence why I mentioned basketball has a global audience

A choke is when the game is set up for your success and you don’t deliver. And when you put that in the context of Shanahan’s history as an NFL coach and the Niners perpetual futility in the biggest games the pattern also lends itself to a “choke”.

Still think choke is an overstatement. One team made the proper adjustments at halftime, one didn't. Still, the margin likely would've remained that 7 pts if a punt didn't hit a blocker's foot.

...as well as baseball (and to a lesser extent hockey). Football probably has the most alternate forms of play (rugby, Australian rules, etc even if you don't count Soccer).

Your idea is stupid because it opens the door to the possibility of the game still ending in a tie. If that’s allowable for playoff OT then what’s the point of even extending the game to break a tie? Weird take by you.

Obviously if there is a tie, you get a second OT. That has ALSO always been the case in post season games. Straw man argument defeated.

A second OT for a game where a team holds a lead is pointless and overcorrection for a problem that didn't exist. Didn't come into play, as KC scored at :03, but it's still a stupid rule change.

And that would result in KC because of time having to kick a FG because they would have had to start over again with another coin toss after the 1Q of OT. It’s a dumb idea.

Who cares about “always” when we are talking about the end result of evolution of game play and rule changes? It’s a dumb idea. You’re alone on an island standing on circumstance over nonsense.

No it’s not. The rule change is designed to make the randomness of a coin flip play a reduced role in the outcome of a football game. If the Chiefs have to worry about clock or the Niners stall ball as they plan to kick a FG as time expires it makes the coin toss too impactful again. Your ideas on this are completely flawed and broken. You’ve chosen a poor hill to die on.

Offensive genius did not fail. Head coach supervising his special teams coach failed.
I disagree. 3-12 on 3rd down when they were 49% on 3rd down all season. Deebo gets 41 total yards. Ayuik limited targets. Kittle 4 receiving yards. He has a stable of play makers and the only one he could bust loose was CMC. He shit the bed…again. This is who he is.
