I'm sure he will if someone makes a decent offer. But I doubt they give him away unless under our terms.
Yep. It’s not fun to think about but every year a QB gets hurt during summer camp and preseason. Those teams are usually desperate. It’s how Philly got a 1st round pick for Sam Bradford after he was already exposed.

Yep....and just a guess but I think if we don't get what we want they'd let him compete with Brissett to be the backup (and potentially play with Watson out if he is).

That’s another layer of an opportunity for patience with Mayfield and holding out for a good return. They still need to send a QB out for the games during Watson’s anticipated suspension.

It’s a very expensive backup plan, unless the think Watson is getting suspended for the e entire year

Yeah the cap circumstance isn’t ideal but trading him results in dead cap money anyway. If it’s me, I bite the bullet on the cap hit and hold out to get the best assets I can in a return. I don’t take a fractional return just because of the cap. The cap can always be manipulated and managed. The Saints just reminded everyone of that.

yeah, just that much like Jimmy G in SF, you are eating a ton of cap space that could be done to improve the cast around your franchise QB.

Man, MLB salaries are still exploding despite the fact that attendance nation wide is down. Those TV contracts must be better than I realized.
Good enough to get tv friendly rule changes ...Manfred would suck joe bucks dick during the 7th inning stretch if it meant keeping tv revenues overvalued

Sam Darnold

He was better than Locke and Darnold at one point.

But it's been 6 yers since his ignorant tempertantrum.

Why would you bring in that circus behind guys still on rookie deals?

A team like Pitt or ATL giving him a shot would've made more sense

Seattle still could. Locke isn't good. It wouldnt' shock me if Kaep did end up better than Locke, but that likely just says more about Locke....who is also still on a rookie deal I think.

I might gamble on mayfield, does Seattle have any deals they want to move?

Not sure. They need help on the o-line, defense and running back. Their most valuable assets are probably Lockett and Metcalf who they would likely want to keep if they bring in Baker.

You aren't giving up much for mayfield.

I meant a contract they'd like to move for salary purposes cause baker is expensive.

I would take a one year flier on Mayfield unless seattle is just planning on the full tank to get CJ Stroud.

well that's a shock. According to Jeff Passan, the Tribe has signed Jose Ramirez to a 5 year, $125 mil extension.

still does nothing to make us better but a good deal and helps especially if the team is sold.
good news. Feel happy for Jose and the Tribe.

Very reasonable deal to. He def. could have gotten 30M+ on the open market each year.

cool to get him signed up at a reasonable amount and make sure he is in Cleveland for 7 more years total.....

Total of Jose's contract now: 7 years- 150 million.....about 21.5 per year.

That is significantly less than what I thought he would get.

Did he give the Tribe a discount, or are baseball contracts down this year?

I would think Lockett would be expendable because of his age.

But I also don’t think he has much, if any trade value because of his salary.

Maybe Lockett + a 2nd for Baker?

Sound reasonable?

Yeah Jose seems like a great guy but I wouldn't give this sorry, cheap owner a discount. I can wait till he sells the team...could be waiting awhile though. I will point out, not mad they didn't sign Lindor-he wanted WAY too much money and they offered him a decent deal. So far early in his Mets career he is nothing special

Seattle is one of the few places where Kap would feel welcome by the fan base.

Would Kap feel welcome- for example- in Texas? lol....uhhh no.

the woke hell hole that is the pacific northwest? They would love him and his pig socks.

Browns would take a 4th for Baker tomorrow.

they want the 19M off the books ASAP to go make more moves. No way are they getting a 2nd and a player.

If they tried to deal him a month ago- it might be different- now the market is a lot different and teams are more settled and budgets are more set. Not easy for any team to absorb 19M right now.

maybe if the Browns ate half the contract they could get something worthwhile.

he wanted to be in Cleveland.

Tribe also gave him a no- trade clause- first one I can ever remember.

with the 2 years he was under contract (this year and next)- they have him for 7 years about 21M a year. So yes- that is a discount no doubt about it.

Jose has been one of the best players in baseball the last few years- but he did have that odd streak a few years back where he was just awful for like 3/4 of a seaosn- then shot right back to being MVP consideration level.

I think its a great deal for Cleveland fans. Good deal for ownership- and Jose got what he wanted- stayed in Cleveland- and long term security.

Well, the player (Lockett) has no trade value really…

So maybe it is a lower pick.

But the value of the trade isn’t a pick and a player. It is a pick and a solid vet who could help a contender, but is also making too much money.
