Me too, but this could help the Dodgers keep a weaker defender in the lineup (Lux?). Dodgers pursuing Freeman reportedly, so Lux or Muncy could be DH (whichever doesn't play 2nd with Trea moving back to SS). Or they could chase a 3B and move Justin to DH. DH also gives the ability to rest a player and still give them ABs, a bit more flexibility.

That’s why it was on the tip of my recall. Obviously I’m a Phils fan. Just seems like a deep pockets Dodgers signing. Phillies owners don’t want to go into the luxury level and they have numerous holes to fill.

They also are going to eliminate the shift starting next year. No value in hitting it the other way and getting on base I guess. Keep swinging as hard as you can and keep striking out.

I feel like ya gotta have it.

If NL pitchers actually took batting practice on a regular basis and most of them didn't head to the plate like walking bags of crap I could see the argument against it.

I admit the added strategy required is kind of intriguing at times, but it's just not worth it to me personally.

See, to me, it's the strategy that is a big part of what makes baseball interesting.

The strategy of you're tied or down 1 in the 6th inning with a runner in scoring position and 2 out with the pitcher...who is throwing a strong game...coming up is part of why I enjoy the game.

That decision the manager has to make about whether or not to pinch hit...could decide the game.
