Do you make the same complaints in the NBA when a player dribbling the suddenly stops or slows so that the defender behind him runs into him?
Are there rules in the nba specifically protecting certain players.

It is? Name some who does it in this new NBA?

Austin Reaves damn near every time he drives into the paint. lol He probably does it the most.

It's harder to detect in the paint, but it's how he gets a fair amount of his trips to the free throw line.

Seen Booker use it, seen Kyrie and Luka do it.

I think guys use it in the paint more than outside the paint these days.

CP3 and Trae do that to guys at half court. So, theirs are more obvious. lol

I don't watch Lakers game much but I know AR is great at drawing fouls

Luka def does it but to @thunderc point, they don't have a different set of rules like QBs does in the NFL.

Bam who plays a different position can try the same thing those guys did and depending on the refs that night, he might get the call

In the NFL, a RB or WR can't do the same thing Mahomes does and get away with it because defenders aren't afraid to hit those positions

I mean…

That isn’t changing.

QBs are just too important. League going to protect them.

Hindsight and all, but why not run it there on 3rd and 2

As soon as they stopped running they started moving a lot better?

Could have run, but the short pass is what was getting them going.

I don’t mind the call. They just have to execute better.

That’s fine as I said but Mahomes is going to end up with a concussion or 2 if he continues to do the nonsense he does when running close to the sidelines…that is all I’m saying because he is the only qb who does it.

The entire league is on to him due to how frequently he does it so good luck with that baiting crap next year. A defensive player would be more than willing to take that 15 yarder and fine to get a simple message across.

I haven’t said a word about that.

Just calling you guys on the exaggerating of the calls going to KC.

The bold is the difference. QB is arguably the most important position in all of sports and it's also the most vulnerable position in any sport.

I agree that the league probably goes a bit too far in protecting them, but for the good of the game, I'd rather they be overprotective.

I can remember when they weren't nearly as protected and the question going into the season for most QB's wasn't if they were going to miss games due to injury...it was a question of how many and when. Knocking the QB out of the game used to be an openly stated goal for every defense.

I'd be surprised if there were any significant changes.

About the only real change I could see happening is on plays like that first roughing call with Mahomes, where there was no helmet to helmet and the head and neck area contact was fairly soft, the refs aren't allowed to pick up that flag because there was still head and neck area contact. Hopefully they'll change it so that flag can be picked up.

Mahomes baiting the refs is a horrible look, I expect it to be addressed in some way. They can do it or the players will.

I have a bigger issue with this than the refs missing roughing the passer calls on their own. If we are able to pick up on this I bet defenders on the other 31 teams noticed it as well
