Cannot just wilson him as too big a cap hit.

No need to apologize for a move many tried to make.
No one else was giving him that contract

Raiders are too pathetic to take advantage of a bad game by the Chiefs

I mean, we don't really know that and even if true it's so overblown.

Like if his deal was only like Wilson's it would make it OK?
No it wouldn’t, but it was pure stupidity to give a fully guaranteed contract. No one has done it since to much better players of much better character.

some have offered as much or more guaranteed money, though (or have come awful close). And, no, not for better players considering we are talking about when the deal was made most held watson in high regard as a player.

No one has gotten a fully guaranteed contract since, it was stupid.

fully guaranteed, no, but awful close and nearly as much or more guaranteed money has been given out.
In hindsight, yes, was dumb but if he played as well as the dozen or so teams who went after him thought he would the guarantee a nonissue.

And playing as poorly as he did, not like it would not be an issue if the guarantee was, say, 80%.

Gotta disagree with the bold.

The issue with the other owners wasn't really the money, because you're right, plenty of other teams wanted him and if he plays well, the money is a non-issue. The way he has been playing, the money would be an issue no matter what he was being paid.

The problem the other owners had was the precedent it set. So yes, it would still be an issue.
