New Year Update:
  • 24-9 record overall (2nd in the East)
  • 13-6 at home, 11-3 on the road
  • We're 4th in total offense, 7th in total defense
  • We're outscoring opponents by 10.7 ppg
  • We're currently knocking down 36.8% of our 3's
  • We've dropped a few recently, it's probably not a coincidence that Zinger and Holiday have been missing time with injuries during that stretch.
  • The NBA regular season is, as always, a grind.
  • Payton Pritchard continues to shine:
    • 28.6 mpg
    • 15.7 ppg
    • 42.5% from deep

Great game tonite but the last few weeks have not been great.

They need something to spark them

Seems like every game, they got 1 or 2 starters out...

... so we're likely gonna get some mixed results during the regular season.

It just kinda is what it is.

Shooting the entire month of December was off

And they still tried to blow another double digit lead

… like as Scal said last night, with Brown and Zing out, someone has to pick up the slack like Holiday or White … it’s been interesting to see who does that … last night Hauser and Queta looked better than usual, Tatum was lights out and even Kornet had a couple key plays… but they still look too vulnerable especially in the last minutes of close games

Joe let him go …

It's obvious Payton Prichard should be drug tested. Rumor has it he's been hopped up on Ray Lewis brand deer antler spray since he entered the league.

God that was such a weird thing

This team likes pissing me off

Yeah... the Celtics have been mediocre to bad lately...

Hopefully, it's just the regular season doldrum blues...

The NBA regular season is (simply put) a grueling marathon.

Losing at home by these amounts to these teams is a disgrace

Springer coming off the end of the bench to save last night’s game sorta showcased how effed-up-in-the-heads the starting celts are right now …

Someone needs to remind them that they are really good all around basketball players and that launching 50 3s a game is not good basketball. Run an offense other than running up court and launching a 3.

… it’s not like their short game percentage is on fire like it should be with all those ‘excess’ 3s

Because they are not running any type of offense to generate good looks. Run down and shoot a 3 doesn't really work all the time.

No … shooting 3s opens up an inside offense which they aren’t executing … lots of missed layups, offensive rebounds, and sloppy passing

Not if you do it when the defense isn't rotating to cover threes.

Basically the Celtics have all become Rasheed Wallace, a really great player with lots of offensive options, but fell too in love with the three and just jacked them up too much and in the wrong situations.

Right. Live by the three, die by the three. It’s another dimension of the game that the celts have used with championship success … used in the wrong situations, like you say, they will lose. But right now, it isn’t just their 3 pointers that’s hurting but other facets of the game. Their lackadaisical ball handling and defense have been obvious.
I think mostly poor defense has been a big factor with them as other teams are having unusual success shooting during long periods of some games. Add the fact that they are the target of the nba after their championship. And maybe the season’s getting long for them and energy is down … we’ll see tonight with the Lakers in a back-to-back after a lowly OT win last night .

Team is in disarray. Coach Joe is going to need to change it up to get this team missioned up

Haven't watched a lot of their games, but based on what I saw last night...the C's and what has been said, they rely on the 3 too much. Also, I thought Zinger was too soft.

The Lakers decided that they needed to defend the 3-point line at all costs and they were willing to let Zinger operate in the paint against guards to do it. So, he ended up with Vincent or Christie on him in the paint. He was 2 for 5 from 3, but 7-11 from everywhere else. Imo, the Celtics should have done more to push that advantage since the 3 wasn't falling.

Might have kept them closer and maybe they end up getting hot from 3 later in the game?
