I do feel a bit bad for the guy having the union pushing him so hard. Another case of a union only looking out for the top guys. Anything the qbs get takes money away from the rank and file, which is what a union is supposed to be about.
You are the most pro owner guy I think I’ve ever interacted with. Now the union is at fault? Oy vey. This system is so rigged against players it’s not even funny. You’re engaging in text book tactics owners have used since the days of Eugene Debs. Blame the union. Pit worker vs worker. Pit union vs worker.

Seriously, how does it help the union to get 1 guy on a team more guaranteed money when it affects the pay of the rest of the team? I guess they think it will automatically make the cap go up but it doesn’t work that way.

Espn is reporting 5 years $250 M with $133M guaranteed.
We were talking about the source of the link not the substance. You’re saying it came from Lamar. I read it came from the Ravens. Leaking is something agents do. Lamar doesn’t have an agent. It’s highly unlikely he is the leak.

Read post before yours, he was leaking a lot of stuff. How the game is played I guess.

It’s in the interest of all players that more guaranteed contracts are given out to the NFL players. That’s a no brainer. The way sports contracts work is that the top end drives the market and then it’s similar to what President Kennedy said in the 1960s “All boats rise” because of what the top end establishes. This premise is why in the last few days mediocre QBs like Carr Jones and Geno got paid what they did. Every player in the league is rooting for Jackson to get a fully guaranteed deal. The owners know this that’s why you saw franchises coming out with a quickness to say they wouldn’t be pursuing Jackson despite being desperate at QB.

I get some of that I guess. If this guy was Mahomes on the field it might happen, but he is not.

I agree he’s not Mahomes. At the same time, I would consider him a top 10 QB in the league. In my eyes, guys like that should be looking at guaranteed contracts as a standard.

I could argue he hasn’t been a top 10 since his MVP season. If we are still hanging onto that outlier MVP season he could be top 10 but nothing backs that up especially if you consider injuries. If he was offered $133M guaranteed or whatever the number what for fully guaranteed…he probably should have just accepted but I don’t know the full details.

Show your hand. Here’s mine but I’m only giving 9. Hurts is a top 10 QB right now but because he’s my guy I’m not going to slot him. My list isn’t based on years ago. It’s about right now with a focus on where they are going forward
1. Mahomes
2. Burrow
3. Allen
4. Herbert
5. Lawrence
6. Lamar
7. Goff
8. Cousins
9. Rodgers

I have your guy Watson as an incomplete. If he comes back at even 85-90% of what he was he gets slotted into my top ten.

Obviously what the qbs want to get to, I don’t think Jackson gets it there though.

Yeah but he needs one now more than ever. I think what BAL initially offered Lamar was definitely a damn good offer. He should have accepted
What was this offer?

Edit, saw it now: 5/250, 133 guaranteed

I think Rodgers needs to move up a few spots and the former MVP should be ahead of Lawrence at least, but overall it's a good list.

Half guaranteed (more or less) is a slap in the face. Rodgers got more guaranteed over 4 years at his advanced age.
Mahomes got 30 percent guaranteed and Jackson isn’t Rodgers at any age

Rodgers is much less likely to play all of his games at his current age. It's a probability thing.

Mahomes' contract is 10 years, not exactly an apples/oranges comparison.

Mahomes' contract is outdated, like it or not.
It doesn’t matter what I like . Jackson is not getting what he wants.
