Today doesn’t matter as long as they beat Iran right?

Basically just as long as they dont killed because if Wales beat England then it would come down to goal differential so hopefully lose by 1 goal at most then beat Iran

I don’t see that happening. Last time Wales beat or tied England was 1984.

Downside though…

Iran will only need a draw to advance.

If they sit back and play super conservative it could be hard for US to score and get that win.

True but if we beat England then that changes everything

Stupid dude, over 60 years ago

Yeah, giving him a full pass on this.

Totally different era.

He was clearly wrong. But no different than someone tweeting about elections being rigged today.

That is how mainstream this stuff was back then.

I would gladly take a draw vs England.

Even then, would still need a W against Iran.

So you are right. This game is almost meaningless unless US somehow gets the win.

Especially in one region of the nation that has always stood in the way of any attempts at racial progress in America.

Family football game today. 16th year in a row in honor of my deceased Pop Pop. Love this day. I get to yell at 7 year olds because they round off the post corner route. “You gotta sell the post first, Sarah! What the fuck!”

You don't know that.

either way, still think this "fully guaranteed" aspect is overblown. If I'm not mistaken, Wilson's deal is about the same in total value but less guaranteed. His is pretty much guaranteed for 3 years, I believe?

I'd rather have 26-27 year old watson for 5 years guaranteed than 34 year old Wilson for 3.

Considering that from what has been reported, the other owners weren't at all happy about that and that the NFL doesn't do fully guaranteed contracts and that much better quarterbacks with much more impressive resumes than DeShaun Watsons have never been offered a fully guaranteed contract...I'd say it's a pretty solid bet.

If you’re Cleveland though, that’s what you need to do to get a commitment from a top level QB. It’s long been the case that Cleveland is where the careers of QBs go to die. I liken it to the Washington Nationals years ago having to overpay Jason Werth in order to get him to come. When you’re not a FA destination you have to do more than everyone else to land top talent.

also no way the deal gets made if the sit down with Stefanski does not go well.

Maybe...but $250 million fully guaranteed in a league that doesn't do fully guaranteed and where the next hit you take could end your career would be real hard to turn down.

True.

I'm hoping it starts a trend. I think it sucks that the 1 league where players need fully guaranteed contracts the most is the one that doesn't do them.

It’s that self reinforcing cycle thing you cite. Because it’s sorely needed, the owners see it as a great risk. I think you’ll see this start to filter in at the very top end. QBs, a handful of skill guys, pass rushers and CBs. And even there it will only be top of the market guys.
