Looks like Geno may be a QB. What are your thoughts on resigning him?

That's a tough one. He has played really well this year, but he's a career backup who has hardly played since his first 2 years. Did it just take him this long to figure it all out...or is he Tommy Maddox?

Usually, career backups are showing why they're career backups by now, but he hasn't yet.

He's 32, so not particularly old, but he ain't exactly young either. It's looking like they won't be in position to draft one of the better QB's in this years draft...so they may not have a choice.

What do you mean? You guys have the Broncos pick and your own right? Broncos pick could be top 10. You have draft capital to go and get the top or 2nd best guy on your team’s board. Or they do a 3 year deal with bonus structures where his dead cap isn’t much in year 3. There are still many opportunities to assess him. It doesn’t have to be a right now decision.

At the same time, he makes it tougher each week. He’s a much better decision maker than I thought and there’s always the chance he got Jets-ed with his only real opportunity to be developed the right way. He’s a testament to Seahawks culture. He’s been in that system for some time and it’s paid off.

True. Forgot about the Broncos pick. The Seahawks are fairly young, and Pete has always done well getting young guys to buy into his coaching style. So, that's a big part of what's going on. Geno's an older veteran, but he looks like he's bought in too, which is pretty big as well.

I'd say re-sign him, even if he reverts back to career backup, at least they know he can take over for a few games if necessary and they don't have to rush the starter back. If he keeps playing well, they can let the guy develop for a couple of years or so with no pressure.

QB contracts right now are nuts. What number do you think he could command? Because of age I’m thinking around 25-30 mil a season. Eagles situation is similar to you guys. I thought I’d be assessing college QBs right now. Instead I’m saying if Hurts wins MVP dude is going to command a contract that’s 50 million a year. These dollars are crazy.

It'll be interesting...he's making $3.5 million this year and is making himself more money with every game. He's definitely earned a raise. But how much do you commit to a guy who's had 1 good season at age 32?

Here's another interesting question...What if Hurts and the Eagles drop off while Geno and the Seahawks keep winning and Geno takes the MVP?

Damn Seahawks have been good enough this year, they made me spend $50 on a new long sleeve Seahawks shirt. lol

When did that occur?

If it was the 4th down stop, that is a big deal.

If it was after the Bucs scored, not so much.

But my guess?

Because Tampa Bay won we won’t hear much about it.

I would much rather pay Geno 25 than Hurts 50

Hurts has been much better than I ever thought possible.

But, he is in this position because of all the great pieces surrounding him.

Pay him Mahomes money and take away a few of those pieces, and I don’t see it going well.
