stay focused as you were commenting on my comment about the O. Coming into this week's games Carolina and Steelers had above average defenses. That may have slipped some.
Got it. I wasn’t delineating offense defense special teams. I was just talking about the team in general. It’s not good.

Offense has been incredible, defense has been brutal.

They had a 99.7% chance to win the Jets game and lost. Two best defensive players out for ATL game, again a close game they should have won and then yesterday, a game they had two chances to win. They could very well be 5-0 but I think before the season we take 3-2...still going to be difficult to win games with a defense that is playing like this. Watson should have a period to get comfortable with the offense and just playing football again. That's why I didn't think this season was a must even after Watson returns but if the division falters you never know. The stretch that is tough is MIA, BUF then TB. Those are 3 of the best teams when healthy. If they go 0-3 going to be tough to do anything.
It's all just sickening. If we were told before the season we'd have a top 5-6 offense after 5 games we'd think no worse than 4-1.

This team is such a buzz kill the way the Tribe and OSU have looked (and excitement level for the Cavs).

I've been kind of impressed with the Eagles and their offense despite not playing a murderer's row of Detroit, MN, Wash, Jville and AZ

How you like the Browns chances against the Pats?

at this point hard to like their chances to beat anyone. I mean, they can and could say they can hang with anyone the way they play. But the Cribbs quote might apply more now.....we almost always almost win.

He is frustrating me this season. That's two games where he got hurt early in the game...apparently he played very few snaps Sunday then sat out the 2nd half. Play or don't play....I fucking hate that shit. I have him in a couple money leagues

Oh, believe me it still frustrated me, especially with the impact on my roster. Since the only sub for him on my roster that was playing at 4pm or later was Renfrow, I had to activate him off my IR. To activate Renfrow, I had to waive someone. Before the 1pm games, the least valuable player on my bench was Kenneth Walker, who was barely getting any run with Seattle behind Penny. Since his game was at 1pm, I had to waive him before knowing if Higgins was going to be active. Of course, Penny gets hurt mid-game and helped off the field. For a while, I thought I had a chance to sneak Walker back onto my roster this week since he wasn't doing anything and . . . he then proceeded to bust off a 69 yard TD run and now Penny is now out for the season. Goddammit! At least he was at best my #4 RB (#5 behind Carter prior to Penny's injury). On top of all that, my opponent's late players tanked and I didn't even need points from Higgins. Adding insult to injury....and just twisting that knife a bit more lol.

Mayfield our for a few weeks with a bad ankle....PJ Walker replacing him.

Thankfully I don't have any Panthers on my fantasy teams. Queue up CMC's next injury...

I don't know what to make of the Patriots. Just when it seemed like they were hot garbage, they shut out Detroit 29-0.

Once DW's suspension was announced I was hoping for a 6-5 record through 11 games. Can't say I see that happening now.

Has a team ever scored 45 points one week then get shoutout the next? That's what the Lions have done the past two weeks.

Got a buddy that is a die hard Lions fan, I keep telling him that is no way to live. He is glad Goff laid an egg so they don’t sign him. They need a franchise qb.

Depends on how they get there.

In Pete Carroll's first season at USC, he went 6-6. They were 2-5, then ended the season with 4 straight wins before losing their bowl game.

Then, he started his 2nd season 3-2...after that, the rest is history.
It's very rare that a HC goes right into a new situation and starts off with a bang, especially in their 1st year as a HC. More often than not, the first season tends to be a mediocre one. Now, if Venables starts getting blown out by Texas in season 2 or 3, you have an uncomfortable discussion.

Edit: Makes OU look bad, if they pull the trigger on Venables that quickly knowing that he was a 1st year HC coming in.

OU will handje it correctly based on what is going on. Joe Castiglione is the best AD in the business.

Yep.

They pivoted to RW when Rodgers decided to stay in GB.

That was a long time ago.

Might be the truth, but not a viable excuse.

Broncos staff had plenty of time to build an offense that works with their personnel.

Being a Lions fan has to be tough. They have been a mess for a while.

It all starts at the top. My team is proof. Haslam's done many stupid/questionable things.

As long as the Ford family is running things the franchise will continue to be to bad.

Or they were lazy and just said, "Lets have RW run this offense."

And it's not working.

Not even comparable. Haslam's team has won a playoff game in his roughly 10 years. Not sure how long Ford family has owned the Lions but no playoff wins since 1991. Before that? Not sure of the year but was in the 50s.

And going back farther the Kosar Browns were good.....

The Lions are the most inept NFL franchise at the moment.

True.

On the other hand, sometimes you know after 1 year, which is why I think if they finish strong, it will help.

I see it as similar to when the Browns had Kitchens. It was pretty clear after 1 season that he wasn't the guy, so they cut him loose.

Initially, it is a bad look. However, winning fixes everything. If they don't think Venables is the guy after 1 season and the next guy comes in and starts winning...no one will care about what happened to Venables.

A worse look for OU, imo, would be to not fire Venables, see Rhule go to Nebraska, ASU or someplace else, start winning and now they're stuck with Venables when they could have had Rhule.
