You want the NFL to change the rules to make you happy?
should they change them if someone retaliates and breaks the leg of a Bengal?

I'm not sure what they should do but thinking there are circumstances that would require them to look past "it's practice so nothing we can do."

It really is a shame. Regardless- a fight is one thing- using your helmet is a weapon is another thing. I would assume that using a weapon against another human being- whether on a practice field or not- is something that could lead to discipline.

Not only that- but Garrett had one helmet- and one swing- and the media faux outrage was just insane. Donald is swinging 2 helmets like some medieval warrior and people are just laughing it off-- "ohh-- that is just ole Aaron being Aaron!!".

All those grave interviews with the media calling Garrett a thug and saying he could be charged with attempted murder. ---- now--- "oohh boy that was quite a scuffle- Aaron sure was worked up!!".
But, you can answer the question as a lawyer? If it's an NFL rule that teams discipline their players when it comes to practice?

Joint practices usually get heated. You throw a helmet at our player and throw punches but the rams shouldn't react?

Fucking ninja'd.
I mean, you would if it was Stafford getting hurt by retaliation...even though you are afraid to say so.

And, yes, I can agree it's not a sure thing to suspend him a long time...only there should be a line past "it's only practice so nothing we can do"

It's OK to see both sides here.

Sharpe agrees. NFL should stay out of this...very slippery slope

I can agree with this and not sure this rises to the level of NFL needing to get involved. But likely there are instances they should despite the rule.

If somebody died.....it is clearly gonna be criminal but not swinging a fucking helmet.

I hear you but can't just jump in out of the blue. If they want to add something next to the rules offseason saying if things go over the top in joint practices they can step in and fine/suspend players then that's cool

I see.....but during a game it means much more because "someone could have died"?

Retaliation on Stafford still OK by you if he lives?

I can agree they should do this......but you know there are certain instances that could happen where "it's only practice" would make them go beyond the rule.

Have to admit also a double standard from some (whether he should be suspended or not). On the field it's "but someone could have died" and now it's "but it's just practice".....again, this does not mean he must be suspended for it.

a player going nuts and swinging his helmet happens regularly? That is part of the "actual practice"?

Fights happen all the time. Swinging a helmet happens more than anyone cares to admit. Ross Tucker was just on Dan Patrick and said that he and Lavar Arrington got into a fight in practice, Arrington ended up getting Tuckers helmet off his head and swung it at him. Pretty much every NFL player that I've ever heard interviewed has said the same thing.
Ref makes a bad call isn't that part of "actual practice"?

Did you miss the "not part of the team" part of my comment?

And again, why are we using extreme examples, that I have never seen reported as happening, in this discussion?

you gonna ask the same to Mamba who said the player needs to die for it to matter if it happens in practice?

FYI, I also said this could happen more than we think and why not an automatic he must be suspended. But I guess the "he could have died (when he didn't)" is off the table even though that was a reason many thought Myles needed a long suspension?
