Going against the recommendation of the person they originally hired to settle this makes little sense as well. The NFL wants a year. Just get it over with and announce things.

I'm not even sure how things work. Can the NFLPA take any actions against the NFL's ruling if they don't like it? And if things aren't completely settled by the start of the season where does that leave DW?
They can do what Brady and Zeke did and sue. Will they win? Wouldn't bet on it. would seem he could play week 1 if it's still dragging on, but wonder if they'd just assume he's getting 6 games at some point and just get it over with (if allowed).

Definitely a quarterback league, so it makes sense...
They I mean an upgrade is an upgrade. He is 27 and a 5 year contract. Any other team would be scrutinized the same way, could have easily been ATL or CAR who are less likely to compete in the next couple years. Like I said, before I don’t have to root for the guy but he makes the team more likely to compete for years to come

I think even if they do sue, he gets the 6 no matter what so it would be something like he is suspended for the first 6 and possibly resumes play if everything isn’t settled. At least that’s the way I saw it. Would be smart to just agree to something and get this done now

Because he didn't appeal the 6

I am thinking it was something they thought out in not appealing the 6....their argument will be something about the NFL not following their own procedures- IE- not sticking to what they have in their policies- which is both an argument based on precedent and on what is written down.

Their argument will be- the 6 games was legitimate when looking at the policy---- they cant appeal it if that is what they are going to argue.

not that i think its a succesful argument- but I can see the basis for it at least.

How are they not following their own procedures? I believe everything they have done is verbatim out of the CBA. Not the best deal for the players but they agreed to it.

It certainly seems that way. Which is pretty crazy considering the amount of teams that wanted Watson

Cleveland had managed the cap well to put themselves in a position to offer the kind of deal they did. Granted it will still suck in a few years regardless.

Truly they should adjust the cap to account for what qbs are making.

What he's making isn't why they're mad.

They're mad because they fully guaranteed his contract.

I am not saying its a good argument.

I think they will say that there policy says owners are to be treated even harsher than players- and these owners have basically had nothing done to them---- which will allow Watsons team to drag the owners through the mud and embarrass them

not saying its a winning argument- but its an argument that could embarrass the league and very high profile owners like Kraft, Jones, Snyder, etc.

How many games have LeBron & AD missed the last two seasons? You really think the trio of LeBron/AD/Russ wins it all this year? Westbrook's a chemistry killer. There's a reason why a player that talented has played for 4 teams the last 4 seasons. They haven't traded RW yet so that's why I said this.

"the Cavs have zero chance to win a title this year"

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Completely agree. But the Lakers odds to win it all aren't much better.

My opinion is right now the Cavs have a better all around roster than the Lakers.
The other part of the statement is the funnier part...the age issue. The current Cavs roster is actually marginally older than the Lakers (and that's before a Russ trade), 26.1 to 25.9.
