I’m pretty sure the league is more pissed at the Browns than they are Watson.

It certainly seems that way. Which is pretty crazy considering the amount of teams that wanted Watson

Cleveland had managed the cap well to put themselves in a position to offer the kind of deal they did. Granted it will still suck in a few years regardless.

Truly they should adjust the cap to account for what qbs are making.

Why, because the Browns gave him that contract?
Yes, and traded for him before the investigation was over. Mainly the contract though.

Like I've said I'd rather he get the whole year than 10 or 12 games

On PTI last week they suggested the league doesn't want Watson playing in week 13 when the Browns visit the Texans.

I mean since we can randomly invent punishments just have him serve 5 games and then suspend him for the Texans game

I'm cool with that. Tell you the truth kinda tired of this topic. Hopefully this new guy makes a quick decision. By like the end of next week. But nothing about this has moved quickly so who knows how long things will take.

That makes little sense to me. Networks who pay the bills would probably love it. also, why help out Houston who so far has gotten away with this even though it happened on their watch and were complicit...also settled a bunch of lawsuits.

And considering the Texans part in this

If they push his contract out one more year than the Browns get an additional $35M cap space. If he gets 8-10 like expected might be better if he gets 12+ in that sense

Going against the recommendation of the person they originally hired to settle this makes little sense as well. The NFL wants a year. Just get it over with and announce things.

I'm not even sure how things work. Can the NFLPA take any actions against the NFL's ruling if they don't like it? And if things aren't completely settled by the start of the season where does that leave DW?

Definitely a quarterback league, so it makes sense...

Yea

They are inexplicably ducking quite a bit of criticism here.

Wild that the Browns are taking more heat than them.
Right...they were complicit AND settled a number of suits. Browns were not sued by anyone.
