*great player

Damn I am drunk at Disney Land lol
Nice! Never been but my drink in Disney World is the Lapu Lapu they serve at the Polynesian hotel during their Ohana meal (just a shit ton of meat on a stick). I can’t go to Disney without a trip to that dinner and at least 4-5 of those pineapples. My PR is 9. Wifey was not happy that night.

I was young but I remember watching Pete Rose. In terms of pure hitters I have to also mention George Brett and Kirby Puckett. Some guys the crack of the bat just sounds different, that was Puckett.
Kirby was great. I loved the wiggle he used to do.

Haha @WiggyRuss and I were talking Bohm’s lack of power today and he just hit a 3 run Hr. You are more than welcome to speak truth to power on Jalen Hurts. I need a negative comment on that guy daily for any shot for him to even be decent.
the guy has a 700 ops......he is hitting like a light hitting SS.

Not that Bohm doesnt have time--- but he is about 1,000 AB's deep.

Stott is still very young- maybe he figures it out.
We’ll see. Harper was in the booth tonight with Kruk and McCarthy and when asked to compare Bohm he mentioned Jayson Werth. I thought that was a pretty solid comparison for what he COULD be as a RH hitter that hits to all fields. JDubb also found his power a little later in his development.

Stott has tools. It’s all about he adjusts to the way the league attacks him.

I saw Rod Carew on the back end as well. I saw a ton of Gwynn in his prime.

I saw a lot of Rod Carews career. When he was with the Angels I lived about 20 minutes from Angel Stadium. Used to go to several Angels games every summer. They had Reggie Jackson for some of that too.

That’s fun. For me the every day watch was Mike Schmidt. Very cool to say you watched the best 3B to ever play the game.

I caught a bunch of the good Steve Carlton but it was also sad to see him cling and hold on past the time he should have hung them up.

I get why you might want to keep him and resign him- but with the lack of hitting catchers around the league- and the Cubs nowhere close to contention they will trade him.

Contreras gives them a chance to get 1 or 2 nice prospects to add to a very middle of the road farm system. Cubs are in bad shape.

Who are their top 5 talents with Happ and Contreras on their way out?

Stroman and Kendricks are not very good. Just guys. Schwindel and Wisdom are just place holders.

I mean I couldnt even tell you who they are building around. Cubs are a bad team right now with very little major league talent and a mediocre farm sytstem. They are miles away from contention.

It is going to take a while to rebuild this team from the ground up unless they really spend a lot of money in free agency....and maybe they do.

Stroman makes 25M next year which is atrocious. JAson Heyward still makes 25M next year which is atrocious. Suzuki makes 18M and Hendricks 14M next year....after that its very clean.

Stroman has a 21M player option in 2024...ughh.

Cubs are gonna be bad again in 2023....probably bad in 2024 and 2025. It is going to be a long time until they contend.
Spending much of my summers in South Bend (days off work, specifically), I still have high hopes for Alex Canario though. So many raw skills. Time will tell if he’s got the plate discipline of a major league hitter.

I was shocked they did not deal CAstillo. Not shocked- but surprised Happ stuck around

South Bend is nice. I had family that used to live there that we would visit.

Cubs just seem a long way off from contention. Pete Crow-Armstrong in the minors and Brennan are at least a couple bright spots in the minors- but if the Cubs are gonna get decent any time soon its because they open up the wallet big time.

I mean body type - yes....I think Werth is a decent comparison.

approach and skills? I think Hosmer is actually a pretty good comp- at least with Bohm's current approach. I am sure Philly would be happy if he got to a Hosmer level
