Not so sure about that.

It would seem a bit disingenuous to bring in a 3rd person who is supposed to be independent, give them the authority to hear the case and decide on punishment, then turn around and go against their ruling.

Especially so when you consider that nothing has been done to owners who are supposedly held to a higher standard.
I don’t disagree. But at the end of the day, what supersedes all of that is public opinion believing that some 40+ accusations mean he is guilty of sexual misconduct. People aren’t going to be upset if his suspension is extended.

The NFL chose to only present 5 cases to Sue Robinson- and one of them was a case that was publicly discredited after they began the process.....her ruling was only pertinent to the 5 cases the NFL brought.

Why the NFL only brought 5 cases is anyone's case- but I think we could probably make an educated guess.

This whole case goes back to the owners, it’s all about the owners. Goodell screwed the pooch, if handled differently I think the Browns might not even trade for Watson. I’m sure it was something they talked about beforehand and used it as leverage.
I think it comes down to 2 grand juries could not charge him with a misdemeanor and the NFL only brought 5 cases to Judge Robinson- and supposedly did not make a convincing case- esp. because one of those cases was discredited during the process.

Yup Goodell can do what he wants now, and should.

On what grounds?

Hiring too many masseuses?

Being into weird sex?

2 grand juries brought no criminal charges. Not even a misdemeanor.

Why bother with bringing in an independent judge?

Who cares if people are upset?

If rulings and punishments are going to be determined by public opinion, then we should just hand all of this over to pollsters.

On the grounds that he wants to, all he has ever had to say before.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the whole reason behind any of these situations is the optics involved in running a business.

Don't like the ruling.

I will actively root against the Browns.

But, we don't punish people based on the court of public opinion.

So, it is what it is.

Dunno about the appeal process.

But, it's probably time to move on.

I will forever be disgusted by him and the team.

If that were true, Kraft, Snyder and Jones would have been punished.

And they should have. They will continue to take a public relations hit on this because of the unevenness in the comparison.

Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if Goodell just leaves it alone. The NFLPA is probably just waiting for Goodell to overrule the judge so they can jump all over this.

Both the NFL and the NFLPA agreed to the independent judge.
Yep so it doesn't look good on Goodell appealing basically the decision he agreed upon. He already has made bad decisions in the past with the owners, that makes him look worse. I just don't see an appeal.

Could see that happening if Goodell pushes for more games. Either way it's gonna be something of a shit show for the Browns simply due to the fact that he can't please everyone...

Fair projection. At the same time, don’t forget that the NFLPA is arguably the weakest of all the player unions in pro sports. They rarely have leverage and even in situations where they do, they seemingly take it on the chin every time. I’m still thinking we are looking at a minimum of 8 games with the NFL having an eye on avoiding week 13 @Houston.
