I was making a point from our conversation yesterday
To me, Rodman kills his team in a mock on the offensive end. Most of these teams, you have to man every player, because if you double, the open guy can kill you. Against a team with Rodman, your PF can literally stand by the basket and double the post or help on drives, because Rodmans range extended to 5' before he started firing airballs. Even inside that, a lot of his rebounds came on grabbing his own clanked layup. Or, you could take your worst defender and let them play him, because other than a put back, he still wouldn't score
He does not need to. Instead of all 5 starters scoring 11-15 points, Jordan(or pick any of the other fantastic scorers on the roster) scores 20 and Rodman scores 4. The end result it the same. There is no shortage of scorers in the NBA. Rodman attempted 5 shots a game, it is not like the 10 shots he did not take never got taken, the shots came from his teammates instead.
The only time there is not an opportunity to score is on a turnover. Rodman not scoring has literally 0 impact when you have 4 other players that excel at it. The fact is he could score close to the basket, his 29th all time FG% shows that. He just understood his role on the team, and played within it.
