Changes were to try and win the Mock. You have a great team, but there's no way a team with Magic running the show should ever lose to a team ran by Penny lol .Better find a PG....

I would say put Lebron at PG but Hardaway wasnt a good outside shooter and Lebron IMO is best at either the 3 or mainly the 4 in todays game.

STARTERS
PG - Jason Kidd - $10
SG - Dwyane Wade - $12
SF - Chris Mullin - $5
PF - Dirk Nowitzki - $13
C - George Mikan - $4

BENCH
PG - Deron Williams - $3
SG - World B. Free - $1
SG - Isaiah Rider - $0
PF - Charles Oakley - $1
C - Joe Berry Carroll - $1

It will be tough to defeat Jordan in the voting as usual but I feel my team of 5 HOF starters should be able to get it done. This group has everything and all roles covered. The Kidd and Dirk pick and roll would be absolutely amazing to see. Wade will be be the guy who can penetrate the defense and create his own shot. Mullin will provide the spot up shooting along with Kidd and Dirk. Mikan low post scoring along with Dirk. Defensively have Mikan protecting the rim with Kidd and Wade as a great defensive backcourt. I could not think of many guys I would rather go against Jordan with than Wade personally. They both have that killer mentality. Bench is solid too with Free and Rider solid scorers, Williams at one point one of the top 2 PGs in the league, Oakley putting people on their asses and Carroll a 17 and 9 career average.

Cooper is about as much of an offensive threat as I am lol. I remember Caldwell Jones from when he was with the Sixers and he couldn't beat out Chocolate Thunder lol, certainly no stud. I like Ginobili off my bench as an all around player, Kerr as a 3 point shooter, Josh Smith as a shot blocker and Tarpley and Donaldson as big bodies

As to starters....if it's this guy vs that guy, the talent is close....but as a unit, Magic is gonna get Iceman, Baylor and Cowens the ball where they are most effective, and Rodman will be crashing the boards....Penny Hardaway isn't making anyone better....

LeBron is, and you have to pay extra attention to Kareem.

By the way, how will Baylor far against Unseld defensively? That is an awful big boy you have him banging with. That is a far cry from the 6'4 frat boys he terrorized in his hay day.

Magic can get guys the ball, sure, but that becomes tough when they all have to operate within 18 feet of the rim. you better hold my team to 80, because half court offense will be a real struggle.

It does not matter where he plays, LeBron is running the point. Whether he is 1, 3 or 4, he is the primary ball handler.

His versatility let's me go a bunch of different directions.

Baylor will fair fine against Unseld lol, only a couple of inches difference and Unseld had all the offensive moves of a doorknob

You keep talking about spacing, but where is yours lol. KAJ is in the post, Unseld had range out to two feet lol. Richmond was mid-range, I'd let Penny shoot 3's all day, and LeBron is LeBrick from 3...

When you have MJ, the Logo, and Patrick Ewing your supporting cast needs to be just that, a supporting cast... Shane Battier is a perfect compliment to a team who needs spot up shooting from deep (career .384 3pt % over 3800 attempts), and a wing defender with size (6'8" 220 pounds officially)... If necessary I can swing him to the 4 and bring Lewis in but I don't believe that to be necessary as Larry Nance is a defensive stud as well... A career 2.2 blks per game, he also had a sweet jumper to go along with his high flying act scoring a career average 17.1 ppg (.546 shooting %)... A supporting cast like that will ensure nobody can double and if you can't double Jordan I don't care who you have you're in trouble... The spacing I have is amazing by the way... 2 3pt threats 2 bigs who can play free throw line in and Jordan...

My bench while inexpensive continues with the theme of support... Nate McMillan is a 2 time all defensive player who is only there to give West 10/12 minutes rest maybe less in that if I need a shooter instead of defense I can play Hawkins at the point with Jordan being the main focus... Hawkins is my 3pt threat (.394 3pt %)... Unlike many of the 3pt specialist he averaged double digit scoring all but 2 of his 12 year career while peaking at 22ppg... Reggie Lewis was a rising star before he unexpectedly passed away... The heir apparent to Bird averaged 20.8 ppg his last 2 seasons, solid leader off the bench... Zbo brings that low post presence off the bench... Nick named first name 20 last name 10 by NBA tv analysts he consistently puts great numbers working the high low with Marc Gasol, as it happens Sabonis will play that role... The original Marc Gasol, IMO playing in the same conference as prime Shaq hurt him in that he had to hang with Shaq several times a year including the playoffs... He's still maybe the best passing big ever and a solid scorer and defender... In all I think my horses are too strong and have just enough help to win...

Lineup vs TLance

Magic vs Penny.....no way to spin this. Huge mismatch
Gervin vs Richmond....edge Gervin. No question
Rodman vs LBJ...Rodman gives him fits
Baylor vs Unseld...Baylor, will guard Unseld on D
Cowens vs Kareem... Will get double team help from Magic or Baylor

Magic gets everyone the ball where they want it and abuses Penny. Unseld, Caldwell Jones, Michael Cooper, TLance has so many non factors on offense, doubles on KAJ will always be available, and I have 3 shot blockers on the bench

-LBJ vs. Baylor- LBJ shuts him down (relatively speaking) no driving lanes available and LeBron has the size and athleticism to guard him.
-Unseld vs Rodman- Unseld can help, but his main job is to keep Rodman off the boards. As one of the best rebounders ever, he can do it. Also, I think he crushes Baylor on the Oboards because of his size advantage, and since Baylor will be used to help.
-Richmond on Gervin- Gervin may have a 1 on 1 edge, but Gervin can't space the floor and Richmond is one of the best shooters ever. Richmond will have plenty of help on D
-Penny vs Magic- Magic had the edge, but Penny has the size to guard him with help. If not, I can sub defense with Cooper or Lever, or offense with Ellis or Rose. Lots of options
-Kareem vs Cowens- Cowens can defend, but he is too small to guard Kareem. Besides, nobody can stop the sky hook.

Defensively, UK has some individual matchup advantages, but with no shooting in his starting lineup, spacing will be terrible. My bigs can help and everybody can have 1 foot in the paint when Magic, Baylor or Gervin attack. It is really hard to play offense when the D only has to guard out to 18 feet. Offensively, he had no rim protectors in the starting unit. LeBron and Kareem will eat inside and Wes Pounds the glass.

what i don't understand with you guys, why do you all assume the starters play 40+ minutes?? I wouldn't want anyone playing over 35 minutes... every team is so good, do you really think these players are not going to exert themselves?? to have crappy or low end benches, ima gonna vote against you most likely.... But that just one vote...

I agree. I am only planning on my starters playing 30-35 minutes, which is one reason I have starters like Dennis Johnson (SG/PG), Larry Bird (SF/PF) and Elvin Hayes (PF/C) who can make it so that I will almost always have 4 starters on the floor, and I can run my bench 3 deep most of the game with the last 2 being situational role players.

There are a couple weaker benches, but cheap does not equal bad.

These arent 5-7 game series though, it's one game playoffs. Plus it isnt a stretch most great players to play high minutes...Paul, Hakeem, Kobe and C Webb all played high minutes for a duration of many seasons and playoffs. One game up for grabs and most greats will play high minutes. In my perspective, this isn't a pick-up game this is a game to win a championship. It's how I look at it.

fine, but there is no chance Michael Jordan playing in his 40 minute is better than Shawn Marion playing in his 10th... We are still talking about top end players...

Point is, fresh legs tire tired legs out even more....

And I dont think anyone has a terrible bench but it's all about how the players fit. Only one of my bench players will play about half the game or quality minutes. I have solid defenders on my bench, a couple shooters, good rebounders and defenders in my frontcourt. There is no reason to have stars on your bench other than a 6th or 7th man. Shooter, role players, clutch performers and defensive stoppers are the main points for a bench IMO

Richmond and Ellis are elite shooters who can give me big minutes. Kerr can't provide that.

LeBron is not a great shooter, but an efficient one who can hit 3s. Penny is a better shooter than anybody in your starting lineup (Magic had 1 season above 32% and 3 above 30%).

You keep knocking Cooper, but his career 3 point percentage was equal to Magic's and he made 428 career 3s to Magic's 325.

Rose was a decent 3 point shooter and LeBron's career 3 point % is again higher than anybody on your roster outside of Kerr and Ginobili.
