At this point, I'd say they'd sink to 44%.

Good news, guys! M's are off today so we get one more day before sinking permanently below .500!

Funny thing is that Tampa Bay got rid of a bunch of players, including their best one and they have still leapfrogged us in the WC standings

The problem is Scott has no consistency in his lineup. Everybody’s always batting in different spots in the lineup each week It seems.

I've always felt that Wilson would make a good manager. He grew up in MLB with Lou Pinella and played with four future HOFers plus ARod, Moyer, and Bone. And he knows pitching. Having said that, Servais is not as responsbile for the team failure as Dipoto is. Dipoto built the roster. As I said in an earlier post, I think Servais did as best as he could with the offense he was given to work with. It was his use of the pitching staff that he screwed up, especially the phase of the game when the transition is made from starter to bullpen.

But I suppose if a front office guy gets fired, it will be Hollander, not Dipoto.

they're making record profit every year without investing back in the team like franchises that do care about winning.

i'm sure winning would make owners happy, but it's not their priority. it's objectively and verifiably true whether or not you think it makes sense.

maybe you'll understand when they sell off everything of value this offseason for cash and push the "rebuilding" narrative with whatever new staff they hire to try to put a shine on dogshit. they'll probably keep 1-2 starters who're under club control that they think will be the biggest PR cash cow. maybe they'll sign raleigh to a long-term contract, but he's at a point where they'll have to overpay him significantly to get it done.
I don't think so. With four excellent young starting pitchers all in club control for several more years plus several more years of club control with JRod, Raleigh, Robles, and Arozarena, it would be extremely difficult, even for this slimy front office, to convince the fan base of a need for a re-build.

They are clearly shifting gears with the first step taken today - firing Servais. I think you will see Castillo traded this winter - another trade designed to look like a move to bolster the lineup but in reality will be a camouflaged salary dump like Robbie Ray and Jared Kelenic trades last winter. Might see JP Crawford moved for the same reason. Servais endosed JP as team leader and with Servais gone and JP's best friend on the team was traded to the Reds, I think JP probably has one foot out the door.

But a wholesale team re-build? Nah. Not happenin'. They will go into next spring with the same strategy - 54%. There will a new second baseman via trade or FA signing who will be no better than the last three second basemen we've auditioned. Probably a new SS that is a Rojas type who will platoon with Dylan Moore or Ryan Bliss or whoever else might come cheap. Hancock will be in the rotation in place of Castillo. Might see Garver or Haniger packed with Castillo for salary relief and get peanuts in return. Luke Raley will be part of a trade package.

Watching Cal Raleigh and Henry Ford next year will be interesting. Something has to give there eventually.
