I'd still keep him on the hot seat, just to make damn sure he finds a way to motivate the bats ALL GAME LONG. You don't just save your energy for the last inning like race horses do down the final stretch. They need to play smart throughout the whole game here.

Exactly. That is managing. Managing comes from the gut and you don't know your gut until the situation happens. It is like in the NFL when certain coaches script the first 20 plays of the game. I have never understood that. How do you know what the defense is running the day before? I don't see those things as game managing. I have watched Servais enough know he doesn't manage by feel. I didn't know about scripting, but it makes sense now. That is lazy.
I get scripting the first drive or so in football. I’d disagree but could listen to scripting the pitching staff innings at the beginning of the year. But they are in a playoff race. Every game is a defacto playoff game right now. Saving arms for the playoffs is pointless if they don’t make the playoffs.
