Being able to see, or not being able to see, the possible gain of an accuser is not proof in and of itself that the accuser is accurate. Hell, just because the accuser believes they are telling the truth doesn't mean that what they are saying is reality.

Maybe one day we'll find out what really happened, but right now it's just he said/she said and unless more information comes out that's where it ends. I don't condone the mob mentality that requires blood for accusation. When and if more information comes out on the situation, I'll make a judgment then - but I'm not gonna get too worked up over it.

I am skeptical when there is something to gain by the accuser. She was fired a month ago and said nothing until tonight. I think they were trying to hush her and she went off. I still think that she was better off not saying anything if nothing really happened. I don't see any upside for coming out with this.

And no, I don't think Segura had anything to do with regards of hatred. I just think he is an ass and lazy and they had to call him out tottery and save the season. It didn't work obviously.

Just to play devils advocate, she does have a crap load to gain. The position she had isn’t available in other jobs in the profession. And the amount of money she will gain by the Mariners having to settle is more than enough for an incentive IMO. I don’t know.

I hate defending these guys without any first hand knowledge, but we have to remember there are in Seattle and somehow got away with the sexual harassment ordeal, can’t imagine anyone in the ownership or front office would be dumb enough to say that stuff in front of her or anyone that doesn’t feel the same or if she did report it to HR I can’t see how they would keep that hushed especially like I said with the sexual harassment story getting broke, why would anyone not think this would and racism > sexual harassment in today’s society. But like you said they may dislike Latin players for whatever reason but it just seems far fetched that the leaders in the clubhouse were Latin players and no way Jerry, Scott and Andy wouldn’t give a vibe off to Nelson Cruz who has been vocal about wanting to return to Seattle or Felix’ love for the organization. Something doesn’t add up to me, but like I said I am very skeptical when it comes to accusations like these.

the team is dog shit and going nowhere. i don't care what the cause is of idiots like diopoto, servais, or any other member of the team's staff/front office getting fired. anything that leads to them being gone cannot possibly hurt the team.

hopefully the owners do something super stupid in the next year and are forced to sell for some reason. yeah, i know it's pie in the sky.

I'm not going to speculate on the credibility of any party in this situation, but a few things that went through my mind:

- Dipoto allegedly called Martin a "cocky latina" to her face? That smells really fishy to me.

- Additionally, why would Mariners management make blatantly racist comments in front of a Latino staffer?

- Lastly, the Mariners press releases on the subject were quite strongly worded. Not even as much as a "We take these allegations very seriously and will be doing a thorough investigation." A straight up denial. Makes me wonder if Dipoto wrote those press releases himself.

Eh, doesn’t sound like Dipoto. Any of his comments on negative press is calling someone stupid in a sophisticated way or denouncing someone’s credibility like all the national pundits.

Come on, I think a blind squirrel can still come to a conclusion of what really went on here. Edgar is a patriarch and management does not have the balls (rightfully so) to fire him. More than anything it was most likely a mutual decision to part ways without hurting anyone's feelings.

Same thing is gonna happen with Ichiro, they're gonna bring him into bring training and start him at the beginning of the season in Japan. They don't have the gnats to tell him no.

Bottom line on both Martinez and Ichiro---It was off the wall from the get go. And why do you think they would hire (bring back) these 2 guys? I have little doubt that owners/management knew many Seattle fans would go bonkers seeing their "stars" back again, which ultimately meant more money in the ownership's coffers, plain and simple.

There's no way of knowing if her rant had anything to do with monetary rewards or punishments. There's a whole bevy of rewards currently available for these accusations, ranging from social, psychological and political. Hell, if events work in her favor, she could still make money off the situation - if past situations are any indication.
