Someone forgot to tell Servais that this was the year to win. He isn't subbing in pitchers when a guy is struggling and he isn't using PH late in games to max situations.

There is no excuse to put a guy at the plate who was struggling and is hitting around .160 in the 8th inning, down a run, with the bases loaded and only 1 out.

Yes, he did the exact same thing earlier and the same guy pushed in the only run to that point. Late inning with game on the line is different.

This was your DH. Wouldn't have any impact in the field after a sub. It's the easiest PH situation you can have as a manager.

Even if they go get a couple of bats and get injured guys back and make a push, this organization is incapable of playing smart situational baseball.

Bottom 1/3 of our lineup needs to seriously start taking a ton of bunting practice.

Seeing bases loaded and guys at 2nd and 3rd with less than 2 outs get squandered by back to back strike outs or rolling into a double play is getting old. The odds HAVE to be higher to surprise the defense with the occasional safety squeeze or suicide squeeze bunt play.

It has to work 40% or so of the time and that is far greater than the 90% fail rate letting our # 7-8-9 hitters swing away.

I'm going to have to give Raleigh a break, he's starting to hit now. He's kind of like zunino with the bat. Lots of k's but when he does make contact he can hit it out.

Unlike Zunino he can’t throw a guy out at second for the life of him

Cal Raleigh his hitting a .218 over his last 32 AB's...

... Things are looking up... :D

Growth Growing GIF by Insecure on HBO
:D

He is mashing though. Can't believe I'd ever say this, but more guys need to be like Cal. Whatever adjustment he made, he's making far better contact than he was before, and that would benefit a lot of guys. Winker, for example has made so much weak, uncompetitive contact all year. Give him some Cal juice!

6 Astros outs on the bases this series. How's it feel to play Mariners baseball, assholes?!

I keep reading beat writers talking about Frazier and how great he hit last year so he should turn it around. He hit .267 with the Padres last year. I don't think this is a funk. I think he liked Pitt.

Nice series. Apart from Verlander and Alvarez, the Astros kinda played like shit. Great to see.

I like watching new players and how they fit in. The one guy that just seems stiff around teammates is Frazier. Guys joke with him and he just looks like a statue. I remember a week or so ago he was in the outfield and they won the game and the three outfielders do their little group dance rocking back and forth but he huddled but didn't swing with them. He stood up and had this look of just too good for it on his face. Just my take.

It was a solid and much needed win. Not just the game, the series. And not because 1 win out of 162 means shit, but taking a road series against the assholes bodes well for the rest of the games against them this year.

And how about Gilbert? Not his best stuff, but battled against the top team and gavels innings and a win. He looks the part more and more each game.
