Peter, I think you are being way too tough on your team and just too tough on the MWC. You have a very solid coach, a school/community willing to invest and a team that is showing steady growth. Next year you start with...

@ Minnesota - last year lost by 3 in 3 OTs.

Arizona - tough game but not a blow out if your team shows up. Look at the stats an margins between UNLV vs. Nevada and Arizona vs. Nevada last year.

Central Michigan - you should be favored here at home.

Western Illinois - you win this one.

@ New Mexico - see last year.

Hawaii - should win this one by multiple scores.

Things get a lot tougher in the second half of the season (and that should tell you something about the strength of the MWC), but could still top a few teams. I could see your team realistically starting 5-1 and easily expect 4-2. Things ARE looking up in Vegas, I wish your team the best.

Im not sure if I like laughing at WSU sucking or if I liked it better when the Ducks and Cougs were in epic games on the field....
I've been telling wazzy for years I look forward to a strong WSU again. The few years when both teams were pushing for a RB at AC time were some of the best football you can see. They had some quality teams under Price and played some quality football. Just sad to see where they are today, but I do believe Leach will get them back to 7+ win seasons soon. He just needs a QB that plays his style. Yes, most offensive gurus can adjust their schemes to the players they have, but Leach is one of a kind.

MWC seeking a partnership with the Pac 12?

Heck, they couldn't even get CUSA to agree to a partnership with them, they have such a pitiful conference!

Seriously about Leaf though, was that guy not the perfect candidate to be an elite NFL QB. God he was good. It really is sad.

He was good and had he gone to quite a few different teams he still could've been great. He was immature and needed guidance and all he had on that shitty team was a roided up Seau. He breaks his wrists and gets force fed pills which led to an addiction.

He had a such an awesome arm and spiral when he played at WSU, and was so sad watching his last practice with the Hawks when he couldn't even throw a 20 yard out cause his wrist was shot.

He is a tragic figure and one many young footballs can learn from his mistake after mistake.

Im confused. why is New Mexico a See last year, where UNLV destroyed New Mexico but you say Hawaii should be a win by multiple scores when Hawaii kicked the crap out of UNLV?

It has to do with the difference in playing Hawaii at home or on the road. Especially if you don't have a history experiencing the Hawaii experience (been there, done that). Few if any road trips are as distractiing and provide as much of a point swing vs. playing Hawaii at home.

2012 in Hawaii UNLV lost 10-48
2011 in Vegas UNLV wins 40-20
2010 in Hawaii UNLV lost 21-59
2009 in Vegas UNLV wins 34-33

Even the Pac feels the Hawaii impact.

Hawaii at USC lost 10-49
In Hawaii USC wins 49-36

In addition, I do think UNLV is improving and hear nothing out of Hawaii that leads me to believe they won't be another 10 loss team next year.

This is why so many major schools only travel when they absolutely have to. Any road game is a trap, even to a lesser school, like Hawaii or UNLV. The climate is perfect. Bikinis (and less) everywhere you look. Drinks flowing like water, all kinds of things to see and do, all of them forbidden, of course. The temptation can be great for a 19 year old kid who has never left the mainland. Vegas is the same thing. We were staying at a hotel off the strip with a college team (not mine) who was playing a tournament. Sometime around midnight we heard a tussle in the hall. Some of the players had tried to sneak a hooker (er, adult entertainment specialist) through the back door up to their room and set off an alarm. Needless to say, the team lost the tournament.

Coach Pete is pretty tough on drilling into the team that any road game is a business trip. Work first, play only if you win. It seems to work.

All Boise has is Blue turf, the river, fishing, the mountains, and a few nice clubs. Never could figure out why those teams always want to go to Vegas or Hawaii.

But as a fan, I get to go to both places almost every year. It could be worse. This year we'll spend a week in the San Juans, ferry to Victoria, enjoy the Mt. Rainier area, and then look for revenge at Husky Stadium. We get great vacations, every single year, sometimes two or three. Sucks to be a fan of a lot of those teams whose only road trips are to tornado traps, rain forests, corn farms, cattle processing centers, urban blight zones, or washed up Southern backwaters.

Smiles, to you everything that means Boise has it a little rougher is a trap. Playing 2 AQs in the same season is a trap. Playing anywhere but in Boise is a trap, etc.

So a little sex cost them the tournament? C'mon, Smiles, that's :lame:.

No it doesn't work enough evidently. Boise is so scared to schedule a one-and-done that I'm not convinced.

In Vegas they have casinos and babes everywhere.
In Hawaii they have babes and beaches.
You seriously can't figure out why kids would rather go to Vegas or Hawaii?
You live under a rock or what?

On a more serious note, though, I think Boise has a pretty good shot at a BCS Bowl if they can cruise through at 12-1, maybe even at 11-2. Right now I don't see any other middie that will do better than that.

Smiles, coming from a Coug. Even if you guys ever to do get into a BCS conference the schedule still won't change when it comes to high profile teams coming to Boise. We are in the Pac and have been bought out of home games with tOSU, ND, Wisconsin and Auburn. Granted, the payday is a little better when you are bought out as a BCS conference team but it won't change.

What does it say about Pullman, that even Moscow looks a wee bit better? Here is a sign I saw on the turnoff to the Moscow/Pullman Highway.

I wouldn't give Leaf a "kinda." He's in there for sure. That guy was the man in college.

Yes he was, too bad he 'couged' it in the pros.

If Leaf "coug'd it" then what do you call Sixkiller, Millen, the Huards, Tui and hell even Jake Locker?

But it's ok, keep smiling because Miami chipped off a piece of their championship and sent it to San Francisco north with you guys and your cute little purple uniforms.

Rypien was the man! 6'4" with his hips located 8" below his nipples and ran the option his first year. Give me him at QB over any of the above mentioned any day.

Really sad.

Washington State used to play some top shelf football. Then Mike Price left for that 10 million dollar escort in Alabama and it's been all bad ever since.
