So after another weekend of football (sorry Redskins and Cowboys I don't think you have an MVP candidate) who do you got for MVP?

bradys on pace for over 5200 yards, 41 TD's and 8 picks

despite the team losing 2 in a row for the first time in 3 years, hes still in the mix.

Of course he's in the mix. I'd personally put him second right now based solely on the fact that Cam is playing good ball lately and is undefeated.

Cam Newton lol. Really? The only reason that team is undefeated is the #1 turnover margin and lights out D that has generated over 30 takeaways this season. Going to be laughing hard when that team loses their first playoff game.

I don't really disagree, but Newton has stepped up his game the past few weeks and was the big reason they won. And as long as they stay unbeaten the voters will give the award to him I think.

no doubt, hes played MVP caliber QB the last few weeks...but its supposed to be 16 games, not just a few in a row.

as far as actual QB's go, cam isnt the best in his own conference let alone the NFL.

Agreed. As long as they keep winning, and he doesn't do anything to "hurt" them, he's going to be the front runner.

And, as you said, he has raised him game at times. He did lead the offense to 2 scores to come back and beat Seattle, and led the team last night on several drives after the Saints took the lead back from them. So, it's not like it's all just defense and running carrying the team. He's done a good job with his arm at times as well.

Stats are nice, but wins are better. As long as he keeps winning, I think he'll get the nod.

I hate defending Newton because I think he's an ass, but do you really think another QB would have that team unbeaten at this point? I don't think Brees would have the same success with the Panthers as Cam has had. Sometimes a QB just fits right with a certain team.

Arizona: 382 points
New England: 375 points
Carolina: 373 points

Carolina's offense is doing it's part in all of this.

You can not agree that Cam is not the MVP. But you can't say he's not playing amazing football right now especially when you look at the offensive talent on that team.

You put Tom Brady or Carson Palmer on that Carolina team and there is NO WAY IN HELL that they have 370+ points this season with the complete lack of WR talent and poor pass blocking OL.

What? Where the hell does this come from? PFF ranks Carolina's O-Line as top 10.

For some voters it's about passing stats. Newton does a lot more with his legs than Brady or Palmer and for some reason many people don't believe that counts as much as just being a pocket passer.

I think Russell Wilson is playing better football than any other offensive player in the league right now, but the team's record is not good enough for him to be a serious MVP candidate. Now if he pulls his team through the playoffs and into a 3rd straight SB without having Lynch and Graham down the stretch, then that's something but I think the voting is in by then?

If the Panthes hold on to 16-0, it's probably Cam even though both Brady and Palmer will have substantially better numbers.

Yup.

Each offense asks its QB to do something different. What matters is how that QB fits into the offense, and can he lead that offense and score points.

Brady does it by throwing it 50 times a game.

Newton does it by mixing up his ability to throw and run.

Both are effective, both get the job done. Neither could probably do what the other does if you switched them.

Right now have to give it to Cam Newton after his 5 td game and his team 12-0. Palmer, Brady and Dalton fighting for second spot.

Some on here really are stubborn to a fault when it comes to their dislike of Newton.

It's mainly jealousy that his dad was sneaky enough to get him paid and shield him from any harm, that and Cam has beaten all their teams this year so far (outside of Rock's, but we all know he's the OD of the NFL board). :dhd:

Please let us hear some more of your expert analysis about how the Panthers' defense won them that game yesterday.
