So who do the Padres trade? They have to trade someone.

Not necessarily. Tatis is likely to become an outfielder when he comes back, probably a right fielder, with Soto in left and Grisham in center.
Machado plays 3B, Bogaerts at SS, Kim at 2B and Cronenworth at 1B.
Of course, if they can come up with a better option in center, they will.

That Bogaerts trade is obnoxiously bad.

Gonna need to win a handful of titles.
They have 0 in 53 years. I think they'd be ecstatic with one world series title. A run of playoff appearances would be great though

this. I wouldn't be surprised if they start toying with Bogaerts at other positions on occasion as well (or even DH).

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Mets have re-signed Brandon Nimmo to an eight-year, $162 million contract.

Nimmo was widely considered the top outfielder left on the market after Aaron Judge re-signed with the Yankees, and while there were plenty of suitors for his services, the 29-year-old is going to stay with the Mets. The outfielder posted 16 home runs, 64 RBI, and 102 runs scored with an .800 OPS over his 151 games, and should remain a solid -- if unspectacular -- fantasy option in 2023.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Mets have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent reliever David Robertson.

This announcement comes shortly after Passan reported that the Mets have re-signed Brandon Nimmo. Robertson had a career resurgence in 2022, finishing with 20 saves with the Cubs and Phillies while posting a 2.40 ERA over 63 1/3 innings. He'll be a set-up reliever for Edwin Diaz, and likely would be first in line for saves if Diaz was to miss time.

According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, Dylan Cease has earned a $2.4 million bonus from the league's newly-established $50 million bonus pool for pre-arbitration players.

The latest Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was signed between the league and players last March, established an annual $50 million bonus pool for the top 100 players, according to WAR metrics, with less than three years of service time. Cease finished second in AL Cy Young Award balloting snd sixth in WAR among qualified players. Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez takes home the second-highest bonus ($2.381 million) with Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah coming in third at $2.191 million. The bonuses are paid by teams before being reimbursed by the league through a central fund.

ccording to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Giants are in agreement with free agent left-hander Sean Manaea on a two-year, $25 million contract.

Heyman adds that the deal also includes an opt-out following the 2023 season. The 30-year-old southpaw has been linked to San Francisco throughout the offseason and will remain in the NL West after posting a pedestrian 4.96 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 156/50 K/BB ratio over 158 innings (30 appearances, 28 starts) last year with the Padres. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Athletics. He'll provide the Giants with some stability in the back-end of their starting rotation, and remains a borderline mixed-league relevant fantasy contributor. It's certainly one of the better landing spots for Manaea as Oracle Park's spacious dimensions should help him from a run prevention standpoint.
