He's shown he's about as durable as Freddy Sanchez so far in his career.
This.
Kid has talent, but I am not convinced he will ever even get a cup due to his frailness.

Player A: 74 PA, wRC+ 49
Player B: 101 PA wRC+ 50
wRC+ is a comprehensive offensive measure, scaled so that 100 is league average. To give you an idea of the scale and range: Manny Burriss is at 38, and Buster Posey is at 155
Without looking - Cain and Pence as a Giant?
Huff is Player A, and Pence is Player B
The sad thing is - I don't know which comparison is worse.
Huff is Player A, and Pence is Player B
As bad as Pence has been, his RBI's have contributed, at this point I am far more worried about Timmy moving forward than Pence.

The Giants are winning because of Posey, Pagan, and Scutaro, with a hat tip to Belt, as well. If not for those guys, Pence's occasional hits would have produced little to nothing. But, yeah, I expect him to come around before the end.
As for timmy, It's too late for him to come around this year. Can't worry about an already hopeless situation, right? If he can not give away the game in the first three innings, that's about all I need to see from him. Just come out completely warmed up from the get-go, firing all his pitches, and not planning on going more than five.

Pence, to me, is the new Huff. And I think the stat you posted on top is hilarious for the stat-obsessed. I respect Pence's possibility of a good streak coming soon, but I can't put much stock in that.
If the Giants make the playoff this year, what's the pitching rotation taking Timmy's struggle in to account?

Pence is an enigma. He is young and a physical specimen. But all his stats up-till-now have been done in band-boxes (Minute Maid and Citizens). Is he a product of these, or just in a 3-week slump?
It is REAL hard to judge his mechanics since they are the WORST mechanics in the history of MLB (this side of Phil Plantier, at least).
All this said, It is not fair to compare him to Huff. Huff was an aging player who had a fluke year (granted not an impossibly flukey year) who regressed to the age-appropriateness of his talent level (read: "done") afterwards. Pence is a guy who has shown flashes of 5-tool-ness and is still, age-wise, south of his prime.
While I want the Gs to hold off on the big extension they were gushing about immediately following the trade, I see him as a .280/20/20 type of guy who SHOULD be extended.

As for the rotation, I think both Zeets and Timmeh make the roster and they are both told to prepare for the start since the other will be called upon as early as the 1st inning if the other shows signs of crap.
So it looks like it's going to be down to the Reds, Pirates, Braves and Nationals whom we'll be facing early in the postseason.
Lincecum vs. Reds (0-1 7.41 ERA in 3 starts) Pirates (1-2 4.45 ERA in 5 starts) Braves (6-5 3.28 ERA in 11 starts) and Nats (1-4 5.68 ERA in 8 starts)
Zito vs. Reds (3-5 6.35 ERA in 11 starts) Pirates (2-3 3.37 ERA in 7 starts) Braves (5-1 2.06 ERA in 7 starts) and Nats (2-2 4.32 ERA in 7 starts)
I'd take Zito in all of those (especially with his number against the Reds this year).
EDIT: Forgot the Cards. I'd take Tim against STL
I think you have to throw out any history timmy had against these clubs prior to this year.
Same with Zeets.
Look at this year alone, with a few key matchups (Votto, McCutchen, Beltran, etc).
I wouldn't. Although I might place somewhat greater weight on more recent stats - Zeets is pretty much the same pitcher he has been all along. I do agree that you have to look at individual match-ups, though, as opposed to team match-ups.
