I don't know if DeJesus has been put on waivers. I got the impression that everyone but Castro and Samardzjia were fair game, but I would have thought someone would've already put in a claim on DeJesus. He can help a lot of teams in contention, is due a modest $4.25 mil next year and has a $1.5 mil buyout in 2014 ($6.5 mil team option) and doesn't seem to be made of glass or juicing.:burt:

Sadly, that's always a question you have to ask yourself these days, though it's hardly a new thing, as we all know.

i'm probably way late on this but anyone else marvelling at how our lineup is almost entirely different from the World Champs less than 2 years ago?
Posey, that's it. Panda was there too but not starting games he was so bad.
Literally no other position player on our current 25 was on that 25.

The pitching is more or less intact, Wilson the biggest one missing and he's at least still a Giant. And Chez. (Side note this LA series has seen such good pitching so far, SuperBum snd Cy Lincecum, with Perfecto to close it out...and lets remember the effort in the 2010 WS from...those 3 guys)

It's kind of exciting in a way, we can keep building good teams with our core of young pitching and Posey and Panda.

Huff >> Belt
Franchez >> Moped
Rent >> Fish
Uribe >> Panda
Posey == Posey
PTMFB >> Shark
Torres >> Oxy
Boss >> Herky

I made a similar observation about a week or so back. I think most teams today have pretty severe turnover every two years, though, so I doubt this REALLY says a lot about our recent situation.

I assume ">>" in this case means "changed to" and not "is better than"?

Maybe, but ours feels extreme. Especially from a WS winning team. Obviously you'd expect teams to keep players together who have proven capable of winning it all, why turn it over? The 2008 Phillies and 2009 Yankees have most of their lineups still intact.

Obviously, the everyday lineup was not our core. And, really, if Huff, Uribe, Rent, Franchez, PTMFB, and Torres were playing everyday we'd have 120 losses this year.

It's really hard to keep the entire team together, it's usually one part of the game or the other, the pitching stays together or the hitting stays together.

Cole Hamels is the only pitcher remaining from that team, though most of their pitchers remain. Even the Yankees who can buy all their players back have only 12 remaining, and most of them were signed to lucrative contracts. The Giants lineup is completely overturned, but the pitching remains mostly intact.

Well yeah. I didn't mean 'why turn it over' specific to us. I meant in the general case, it's gotta be pretty unusual to see a WS winning lineup get so completely altered in less than 2 years.

I guess maybe Florida 2003, weren't they notorious for assembling that team and immediately breaking it up after the WS?

Bartolo Colon suspended 50 games for PEDs

Man the Bay Area really is PED central.

With a company named 'BALCO' at the center of it too, I can kinda see where the stigma comes from.

We've had a lot of names tied to PEDs, but so have SoCal and New York.

Tough break for Christian, but it will be nice to get a look at Peguero.

This is his opportunity to show if he's worthy to take Nate Schierholtz's job next year (or even conceivably a starting role, but I don't think any of us expect him to play up to that level).

I think kieschnick was supposed to be Nate's heir apparent.
