Darin, Darin, you can come back up if you can beat out Parades for an outfield job.
There is no room at the inn for Ruf. He only plays well as a full time starter. Even if he hits .300 with power
he will remain in the minors. But if that is the case he will become trade bait if another team loses a player to injury. We could probably get a reliever in return. He is sort of another Pat Burrell type of player. However, Ruf
never got the full time player status that Pat received.

I suppose that you could say something about this subject as if you know what you are talking about!

burrell was a #1 pick. he had 29 homers/1.028 ops at age 22 in the minors. he went on to have a super consistent (minus the year 2003) and great career in which he hit righties very well.

ruf was taken in the 20th round. he was still at A ball at age 24. he went on to produce a mediocre, fairly worthless career in which he struggled against righties and couldn't reach base enough.

if we're just using a scale of 1-10 to describe talent.. burrell is around a 9.5, where as ruf is around a 3. no one cares about ruf. he's not trade bait. he's 30 years old. and i doubt any team would even bother to claim him if the phils let him go right now.

ruf and burrell in the same sentence.. for anything.. just no. stop with the nonsense.

LMAO...so funny...so if we bring ruf back up we will have Luzinski and Burrell in the lineup. Cool...the bull and the bat. ...don't I wish!

ruf did have that 1 year in 2012, when he was 26, he hit 38 HR's in AA and skipped AAA and had 3 HR's for the phils in Sept and then went on to play winter ball and hit 10 HR's. Total of 51 HR's that year. I have to admit, I even got a little excited. But that wore off quickly ever since.

Please stop with Ruf hating already. When I said that he was a Burrell type I simply meant that they both played left field and/or 1st base. Both have power, strike out a lot and lack speed. Get a grip on yourself -phillies-.

Plus, with Joseph's 4th homer today, the 3rd off a RHP, any Ruf/Howard issues/questions are officially dead and burried as if they wern't already. We're getting there.

Darin Ruf goes 2-3 with 2 walks, a double, and a grand slam homerun today. He now has 7 homeruns, 6 doubles, and 23 Rbis in 24 games. He raised his batting average to .315 and on base percentage to .367. Oh yes, he is playing every day against all pitching with an occasional day off.

Hunter is a left handed hitter who hits all types of pitching. He even has a little speed. His downfall is his power.
A left fielder needs to hit more than 10-12 Homeruns a season. It seems he could hit for average on a full time basis, but he does not play well in a part time roll or as a pinch hitter. He will never get a full time roll in the majors, but could get a call up due to an injury.

Hunter had good 10 year career in the minors hitting .280/.348 for 13 teams! Very odd that that SD, STL, CLE, ATL could not evaluate him with a decent number of games. I only see 6 games for SD. wtf. He had a very good ST with the Phils and I was hopeful for him but then he went 3/34 in April playing mostly every day. Should they keep him for another 34 ABs? Nope. You dump him and try Goeddel. Let's face it, guys like Valent, Hunter, and Burris just can't hit MLB pitching. After 10 years of "training", you should be able to wack a curve and a fastball.

Bring up both Hoskins and Cozens today. I'll bet one would delight and hit 20 homers the rest of the season.
