New challenge. Turning a pro style offense into an air raid offense in the best conference. Also, many people don't know, his first job was in the SEC with Kentucky. He was QB coach/OC for Tim Couch.
Yep, Hal Mumme guy IIRC.

You have to hate Washington State to leave it for Miss State. He had at least a shot playing in the PAC but my holy crap jumping into the SEC West is a losing proposition.

Don't get me wrong I love Leach and excited he is coming to the SEC but I gotta think Baylor made a huge error not jumping on him first.

Mullen is the only coach to have survived Starkville and he did that by the skin of his teeth and got lucky so many jobs were open Florida had to take a look.

Didn't they win 10-11 games and beat Bama. I would consider that, "doing well".

Miss St has been known for their defense, if they can compliment a good defense with a successful air raid, it could be dangerous. This hire is just the best Miss St could do
aTm had a Heisman trophy winning QB and the best they could do was 4th in the SEC. That Harbaugh level of success.

That's fair, but not really, also. It's not as if WSU and UW are on the same playing field. I understand that they're in the PAC, but UW is an incredible school with a lot more to offer. Seattle is a big city with lots of attractions for a teenager coming out of high school.
Just my $.02.

Dont disagree with any of that. But WSU hasnt been competitive with UW the last 6 meetings. WSU doesnt struggle like that vs any other PAC12 team and UW doesnt dominate like that vs any other PAC12 team. Its fair to bring up IMO. Obviously the two arent on a level playing field recruiting wise

Congrats old miss fans.

Leach has no idea at all how to even be competitive against his schools biggest rivals.

Should be some easy egg bowls coming your way for years to come.

Right @wazzu31 :noidea:

Miss St would be pretty happy going 11-2...I can guarantee that. Harbaugh had higher expectations, Leach has no pressure. You can really only go up.
Sumlin was a much better recruiter but Leach is a better developer and an offensive genius. That being said, gonna be much tougher in the recruiting department. He turned a 2 star Falk into a star, Minshew 3 star, Gordon, etc.

Gonna be a challenge.

He's got to get a damn good DC that is willing to accept an imbalance in time of possession. Leach doesn't really give a hoot about complimentary football.

I think complimentary football is what Garrett tried to instill in Dallas:

Feel like MISS STATE panicked and just took a big name without thinking it through
They could have done better. There are plenty of up and coming assistants who would be a better fit.

This is a 60 year old dude who:
hates the media
refuses to recruit
pisses off all the other coaches in the league
struggles to beat rival schools
has some issues with NCAA stuff and off field

All While getting mediocre results in the W/L column

UW only rose to a conference power because we had Mike Leach.
