His 5th year option this year is $24M. So this all starts in 2026.

It would be significantly less than what he would get as the highest paid non-QB in the league (as in like $15M less) and yes we would face it again and could tag him again in 2027 but it would go up like 20% which would still be a discount. The two biggest problems with the tag would be that you can't back load it and would he hold out. That is where I would start looking at a possible trade because if this time next year he isn't signed and has been tagged it means things have gone sour. But you just know these incompetent jackasses see August as the deadline to get a deal done. More drama, more ill will, more chances for injury and a much bigger cap hit than any other team would have paid. We are our own worst enemy from a cap perspective.

cap space comes to mind. at the end of this upcoming season, he becomes a FA and as he's the BEST player at his position in the NFL it will require at least 42+M AAV. with just Prescott, Lamb, Osa & Smith and Parsons alone we'll be at the projected cap for 2026 with no room for anyone else

I think if they part with any star it will be Diggs. Having Bland and Revel makes that doable. It won't be trading their best player

Seriously, Micah is absolutely vital for the Eberflus defense to work. His defense is on the low end league wide for blitzing. They don't send guys from different positions. They depend on getting pressure from their front four. Micah is a huge difference maker in this scheme, and its why we took EZ in the 2nd round last night

yeah I know they wouldnt trade him. So I am not worried either.
but reason I joke (sorta) is because I am not excited about paying that extraordinary numbere to a guy we are gonna use wrong. We are gonna pay him, then we are gonna make him less dimensional

I look at boxing. Parsons being the dominate right hand. opponent guarding against it so not to get knocked out. Rookie is the left hand just keep hitting the body. Eventually the opponent tired of being hit by the left defends against it.
Then KO from the right!
