His 5th year option this year is $24M. So this all starts in 2026.

It would be significantly less than what he would get as the highest paid non-QB in the league (as in like $15M less) and yes we would face it again and could tag him again in 2027 but it would go up like 20% which would still be a discount. The two biggest problems with the tag would be that you can't back load it and would he hold out. That is where I would start looking at a possible trade because if this time next year he isn't signed and has been tagged it means things have gone sour. But you just know these incompetent jackasses see August as the deadline to get a deal done. More drama, more ill will, more chances for injury and a much bigger cap hit than any other team would have paid. We are our own worst enemy from a cap perspective.
