Unless he is compensated/bought out when he retires. If so, he cannot be placed on the retired/reserve list. He is officially retired. If he collects any monies from the NFLPA Retirement system he is also not considered to be the property of anyone. There are a hundred little things that keep retired guys from coming back and with good reason. That's why 99.444% of all players who retire are done. Unretiring is a process and the league made it difficult and the NFLPA agreed to protect the young guys from being canned because a 35-year-old ex all-pro didn't plan his retirement well and needs to come back for one maybe two years and become a vegetable while he figures out how to live the last 15 years of his life somewhat comfortably.
Just was listening to an ESPN show about the league and they spent a few minutes discussing what has happened to the Patriots. So here goes.....
1. No TE that can block, break free and catch the ball in traffic.
2. No WRs that have speed or ability outside of the numbers
3. Weak left side of the line and they continue to run that way most often.
4. No Punt or Kick Off Returner. Fair catch everything.
5. No power running back.
Brady cannot make up for all of the weaknesses as he's done in the past because he's always had two of the previous four offensive problems and he's never had an offense that is this weak.
This guy said that he's surprised that they're 10-3 and not 6-7. Then he warned the listening audience. The Patriots have been repeatedly counted out many times in the past. When they get to the playoffs, they have experience on the field and on the sidelines. That makes up for nerves and worries on the big stage in the bright lights.
