For the love of god, the damned texts were sent to him by the ex wife. How are you not getting this? :L It's not hard to ask her if she actually sent them so why on earth would HE fake them? It would literally be the dumbest thing any sports reporter has ever attempted because of how easy it would be to refute she sent it.

It's just fucking dumb.

And lol at trying to pick at it because your chat app is formatted differently than hers. :L

For the 10th time, she could easily have faked it.
You’re focusing a little too much on the fact it’s easily duped. And missing the bigger issue. Which doesn’t matter who the source was. Why leave out the date and time stamps?

Nothing to do with format iPhone4 still had date and time stamps.....

Not going to argue but I am certain you are incorrect.

The alleged abuse would need to have taken place on campus or st s university sponsored event.

Additionally if urban spoke about any details of an alleged incident he would have then been in violation of Title IX.

For a thorough explanation search for Kyle Lamb on Twitter. He lays it out clearly and concisely. I would link it if I weren’t using this stupid phone.

I haven’t looked into it, but in one search there is an article in a Cleveland paper debating it. Which would lead me to the believe there is some doubt. I doubt either of us care enough to really look into title 9 law

The biggest issue is why did Urban deny knowledge of it initially and then why did he recant that statement and say he followed procedure.

This has nothing to do with Title IX. To claim otherwise is to totally misstate and misunderstand Title IX.

How many times do you think you hear the truth when a coach is let go? Zach Smith is the first assistant Urban has ever fired - - - but he has "helped" many others get new gigs - do you think Withers really wanted to move from OSU DC to head coach at some DII college? That Warriner wanted to leave for Minnesota?

Grow up.

I’m curious why you keep saying it has nothing to do with Title IX?
Every coach in the NCAA is responsible to report any type of abuse, accusation, incident, etc. by a player, coach or staff to the Title IX compliance officer at their school.

You are arguing that it shouldn’t fall under the clause in his contract. That is ONLY for his current contract, so if he is fired, OSU could fire him with cause and not have to pay. He still was responsible for reporting the incident in 2015. That is why he paid the PR firm to cover his ass in that letter. It basically passed the blame from Urban to Gene Smith.

If the independent group investigating finds Meyer didn’t report the incident. He can and most likely will be fired because of his obligation as HC to the Title IX compliance dept.

Whether the new Title IX clause in his contract voids it is another story. Saying it has nothing to do with Title IX is wrong though. The whole case is based on whether he was in compliance with the Title IX Office.

Based on the source being used in this story. I’ll wait on the actual investigation results....

I'm not bothered that he lied to the media. If there is documentation that he handled it according to policy and there are no more surprises (

) then I believe he will be reinstated. If there is no documentation (the police should have a record if they talked to the AD, for instance) then I believe he is probably gone.

My prediction is that he will be reinstated (assuming nothing else comes out, like a picture of Zach punching Courtney in the neck at Urban's house with he and Shelley looking on).

Well he lied in his article lolzzz urban actually has the police and possibly the AD to back up his theory. McMurphy has who? Has Courtney even said anything about the texts. We do know McMurphy lied and we know Urban lied about not knowing but he can back up his claims. Mcmurphy is hiding something and yes he has motive. His fucking career!! He was already caught in one lie and he was caught trying to fix it. Bottomline is Urban shouldnt be screwed bc of one lie to the media. He followed porotcol bottomline. Lets move and the crazy couple work their OWN problems in court

Probably bc nothing came out of the actually investigation by the police in 2015 after he reported it. But that’s why we find out everything before we know for sure

Then there would be no reason for him to say he didn’t know about it. That’s the problem here, he says he followed protocol but yet felt the need to lie about knowledge of it 2 weeks earlier?? Take off your homer glasses, it’s just making you look like more of a jackass.

Wow, clarks stupid is spreading... :tsk:

There is zero chance he made that up. None. At all. And it's patently stupid to even suggest it.

The chick? Sure. Plenty of room for her to have fabricated that, but the reporter? :L It's just dumb. That didn't happen. Period.

And no, you don't have McMurphy 'lying'. At best he did shoddy reporting and put things in print that may not have been true that he didn't take due diligence to get right before posting. That's at best. And that's not called him lying. That's called shitty reporting. And it isn't uncommon.

What is uncommon is a reporter to entirely fabricate easily verifiable physical evidence in an already big story to further a career.

The odd thing is the denial and then the statement he followed procedure. They are wildly different stories and that is why everyone is expecting something bad. Meyer seems to be setting up Smith as the fall guy with the last letter, but who knows.

Because Title IX is specific. The victim must be a part of the university community (she was not), or be on university property when the incident occurred (she was not) or at a university sponsored event (she was not).

This lays it out pretty clearly:

How so? Gene knew (he talked to the police); Urban knew (he presumably talked to Gene, and definitely talked to Zach). If the police told them there was nothing to be concerned about, what were they supposed to do?

Again, I expect that if policy was followed, I would assume there is documentation of such.

No disrespect to the current incarnation of Penn State football, they have done a fine job of rebuilding that program, but you are trying to compare sexual assault and intimidation to domestic battery. One is a life felony and the other is a misdemeanor.

one was reported to university police... the other wasn't.

I never thought that. I did think he should have called the police, however. Since OSU (Gene Smith, specifically) found out about this incident in 2015 FROM the police, the situations aren't comparable.

the point people are trying to make are that Urban knew something and did nothing.

JoePa heard about something 2nd hand and reported it to the head of university police...

Neither is a LEO, and neither has the responsibility to do anything past report what they know.

I think he did exactly what JoePa did in 1998 when Jerry was investigated and no charges were filed. Should JoePa have been fired in 2001?
