Week 5 Report

Still the Main Story

The Family Cartel reasserted its dominance this week. Lefty spanked Duff 128-68 and now only has Treff for company at 4-1, while boasting a 6-game lead over Tlance in breakdown and 59-point lead in PF (also over Tlance). Bandit had a less impressive 101-78 win over Foot, has HaroldSeattle and dblake sharing the top record with him at 4-1, and has only a 15-point lead over JDM for PF - but has a striking 10-game lead over 2nd-place Microwahevo in breakdown.

The only imminent threat to either of these guys is Tlance in the A league, who beat wilwhite 113-89 on the strength of 20 pts each from his kicker and his D. Tlance has just as solid a hold on second place in both PF and breakdown as Lefty has on first place.

Lefty has broken the century mark every week this season, and only failed to score in the top three once.

A Tale of Two Goths

The Visigoths went 4-0 this week, while the Ostrogoths went 0-4. The Visigoths are now 5-3 outside of their division, the Huns 4-4, and the Ostrogoths 3-5. (All even at 4-4 in the A league.)

How the Other Half Lives

HaroldSeattle suffered his first loss as he needed 27 points out of Vernon Davis and Arian Foster and got 25 to lose to Microwahevo, 124-122 (Micro got Vicked but was rescued by Knowshon). Harold had three cruddy wins early despite paltry numbers, added a nice win last week, and this week he felt the true fantasy football pain as he had the second-highest score but still lost.

The rest of his division also lost; he still has the only two-game division lead in either league.

The Comeback Begins / Sampernick, Part Trois

Fuzzy finally broke through, beating Sam 90-76. The Fuzzies are still third in breakdown, and finally have a win to show for it. On the other side of the ledger, a bad fantasy game for Kaep once again equals a loss for Sam (2-3).

The Comeback Begins...?

The Drone finally rose to the level of mediocrity for a week and slipped past the up-and-down JDM 96-88 (JDM always scores <100 or >140) for her first victory. The Drone is not alone in last place in every power category any more, as she's been joined by Foot at the bottom of the breakdown rankings. (I've decided the Drone is a she. She is a ship, after all. Sure, she spits hot death, but some women are like that.)

Foot Falls

Foot started off fast - he was undefeated and tied for third in power ranking after week 2 - but his loss to Bandit puts him at three losses in a row, and he is now tied for 10th in power ranking. (These three losses follow his trading away Marshall, Lacy and the Seahawks D for Martin to Chef. Chef was 0-2 at the time and has won two of his last three. Maybe there's no connection though.)

The :gaah: Award

This week's award goes to TK, who went into the Monday night game 32 points behind Chef with Ryan and Gonzo to go. He got 31.

In Other Games

KOTF
Joe's Sloths rolled over Ram, 119-75
TKO got high score in both leagues for the week, beating Scape 132-84
Treff beat Smoking "VJAX All The Way!" Monkey, 90-67

BATG
Barilko pocketed the Marsupials, 113-60
dblake beat Sox, 114-102

Keepers of the Flame vs. Barbarians at the Gate

And CJ and Fred on the bench with more points than Lacy and Stacy in the lineup! Good to get out of the 80's!

great job as always Will.

Nice write up. As a rookie I've been reading more then posting. Feel pretty lucky to be sitting at 4-1 and I'm against the drone this up coming week, so that's looking good right now. I'm just hoping to hang in and be in the hunt right to the end.:suds:

What is the play off format Wil? I am sure you are getting tired of hearing this but great job man the job you do with this, we are lucky to have you. Question, how is the play off format meaning who makes the play offs and second does the super bowl winner get the first nod in the B league get to move up or is it the points leader?

For those on the outside, Windy City Sloths of Average Joe and yours truly, TKO have completed a deal. I paid for AJ Green, and made a few switches in the process.

To Joe: Larry Fitzgerald, Zac Stacy, SF DST

To TKO: A.J. Green, Chris Ivory (swapped out for Tyrelle Pryor), Rams DST (swapped out for Colts, who coincidentally play the Rams in Week 10, the Chiefs bye week)

TKO Results
QB - Luck
RB - Fred Jackson
RB - Lacy
WR - Green
WR - Decker
TE - Julius Thomas
FX - James Jones
DST - Chiefs
BN - DMC
BN - CJ Spiller
BN - Finley
BN - Pryor
BN - Colts

...first two picks riding pine, awesome!

Well TKO,

I felt a lot better about our match-up when Fitz was your WR2 instead of Green.

Thanks a lot Joe. You couldn't have waited a week?

Sorry tlance. I was dying at RB. Forte can't carry the load alone. Even the "Wilson" in Cast Away did more than what David is doing for the G-men.

Incidentally, I benched Martellus Bennett since he was a "game time decision." You figure that if he's hurting that bad, he won't do much. But Bennett had 6 catches for 68 yards. I hope Olsen does at least that for me.

I think it is a good trade for both of you. Especially for you if Fitz gets hot.

Relegation Refresher, 'specially for Foot.

In normal circumstances, two teams will move up from the B league to the A league and two teams will move down from the A league to the B league. Teams moving down will be determined by power rankings. In the event of a tie, H2H will be the first tiebreaker, breakdown record will be the second tiebreaker, total points the third tiebreaker -- and if we still have a tie, whoever does better in a Fantasy Playoff Challenge to be determined.

The two teams moving up from the B League will go according to these criteria:
1. Champion
2. Regular season breakdown leader
3. Top seed
4. Regular season power rankings leader
5. Regular season points leader
If the B League champion meets all the other criteria, only a single team moves up (and only a single team moves down). Otherwise, the other B League team with the top-most criterion also moves up. (In the unlikely event of a tie, we'll again go to a Fantasy Playoff Challenge as the tiebreaker.)

To Spice Things Up
If in the regular season the B league outscores the A league, FOUR teams move instead of two. If that happens and the B League criteria above doesn't provide four teams, we'll use playoff seeding for the rest. If the B league outscores the A league by more than 480 FF points, SIX teams move.

And the three division winners plus a wild card make the playoffs. Regular season ends Week 14.

Ok, maybe some of you guys can share a little advice; what do you consider a good team point-wise?

Is, say, 30 points for a QB considered elite? What is the standard for RB or WR? How much do you expect from the Flex or TE position to be considered good? I'm basing this on our MBBRL settings since I don't know much about PPR or other leagues...although i'd like to learn.

Still having a blast, though! I'm happier than a slinky on an escalator! Than a witch in a broom factory! I'm even happier than Eddie Money running a travel agency! :laugh3:
