It might be too early to bring this up, but I was wondering what everybody thought of instead of letting the randomizer choose our actual draft positions and it's set in stone to just letting the randomizer pick the order in which we get to select our draft position. For instance, instead of the person that gets #1 getting the first pick automatically, they get to instead choose what position they would like to draft from first. They might still choose #1, but they would have the option of any draft position. Then so on down the list until #12 just gets whatever draft spot is left. I think it would make things a little bit more interesting.

Also while we're at it, is there a reason that the teams in each division never change? Was this part of the MBBRL plan? I know that it essentially doesn't matter because we are all good, but the exact same four teams made the playoffs last year as the year before. And on a personal note it just might be nice to not have to play freaking Tlance twice a year every year.

Now that I've spoken about both of those things, this is what I propose and you can all tell me that I'm an idiot for bringing this up. I know that a lot of guys don't like to change anything, but I don't think any of this messes with the great formula the founding MBBRL fathers had in mind. I think we should combine choosing the draft positions with what division the team will be in. That would add a wrinkle into picking your draft spot. The Aramis division could be draft spots 1, 4, 7, 10, the Athos division could be draft spots 2, 5, 8, 11, and the Porthos division could be draft spots 3, 6, 9, 12. That way if there was somebody that you want to avoid being in the same division with, it would affect which draft spot you choose also. So let's say I get #2 and Tlance drew #1 and he chose draft spot #12 which would put him in the Porthos division. Even if I really wanted to draft #3 I wouldn't choose it because that would put me in the same damn division as him again. This would make it a little bit extra work on our wonderful commish, but I think he can handle it

It's just a thought and I think it would be a lot of fun, but it's not like I'm not going to play if you guys disagree with me.
Works for me. Does this mean in the A league everyone wants Tlance to pick first so they can try to avoid playing in his division?:D

Not me- I would welcome Tlance in my division.

Nice suggestion Bandit.

I wonder why we don't have an NFL style draft?
i.e. Worst teams first.
I realize the relegation and B-champs jumping up would be an issue. But with 23 knowledgeable, intelligent experts, I'm sure that you'd come up with a solution.

But seeing that there is a poll for a new method, I guess we're way past any of my suggestions.

We can't even have NFL style waivers

MBBRL Rules (Part II)

The B league has a drone team, which is active but runs according to pre-set rules. Last year the drone team made the playoffs out of the toughest division.

Here are the rules. Probably nobody will care much right now, but when you are surprised by a start/sit or add/drop, you can refer back.

DRONE TEAM

Draft

The Drone Team will be autopicked with no interference.

After the draft is complete, the Drone Team will adjust its roster to: 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 4 WRs, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST, by dropping extra players at any position and adding the next-highest player from the autodraft list at the needed positions.

Start/Sit

Will be determined by ESPN projections. In the case of a tie, alphabetical order. Game-day inactives will sit in favor of next-highest projected player.

Waivers/Add/Drops

Except when needed to field a full active roster, the Drone will only make one waiver request per week, and only if a player on waivers is projected at 200% or more FF points of the Drone’s player with the lowest “Expected Points” at that position.

Expected Points are:
  • Prior to Week 1: Week 1 ESPN projection
  • Prior to Weeks 2-4: Average of previous week(s) and ESPN projection (injured players not on IR won’t be dropped until they have played a game)
  • After Week 4: Average of previous four weeks (excluding byes)

Averages exclude games on IR (designated for return) or suspension. A player placed on regular IR will be replaced that week in addition to other add/drops; a player designated to return will be kept only if their pre-IR average is one of the top ten averages on the team. A player drafted with a suspension already in place or on the short-term IR can’t be dropped until after the game following their return.

If the Drone can’t field a full active roster, it will do Add/Drops as necessary to field one. The player picked up will be the highest projected player for that week at the needed position(s), and the player dropped will be the player with the lowest “Expected Points” at that position.

If the TE, DST or K has one of the Drone’s top seven average points, that player won’t be dropped to field a full active roster, but a replacement will be added for one week only and the WR/RB with lowest expected points will be dropped to make room.

Was looking back through the message archives and found this little gem posted by the master. I kind of miss the drone, I was in the same division with that bastard my year in the Barbarians and I hated playing it, but it definitely kept things interesting.

I think The drone actually made the playoffs in year 1 of the B league. Pretty sure it was who I faced in the semifinals. Drone had a really strong team that year.

Things can obviously change between now and the time we actually draft, but if we were picking today, I would select Todd Gurley.

For those interested, he would potentially be on the trade block as soon as the draft was over. I would be willing to move him for 2 top 20ish players.

Hey guys it's me again. I know what you're thinking "What the hell do you want now Bandit?" Well, there is one other thing that has been discussed in the past and it seems that most people are for it, but I don't think we've ever actually had a formal discussion on it because it always gets brought up during the season and then we all forget about it by the time the beginning of the next year comes along. That would be decimal point scoring. Most of us probably already have it in our other leagues and it would certainly make my life easier on the breakdown side of things to have a lot less ties. Plus, I just think it's a more accurate scoring system. Quarterbacks would get .04 points for every passing yard, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends .1 points for every yard rushing or receiving. You're still getting one point for every 25 yards passing and every 10 yards rushing and receiving. I actually have never understood why all fantasy scoring hasn't always been this way as it's the most accurate way to measure a performance. Why should 99 yards rushing only be 9 points instead of 9.9? As far as I'm concerned we don't need to mess with the scoring for kickers or team defenses. Thoughts? I know I'm being a pain in the ass, but if I don't put this up while I'm thinking of it, the season will have started before I think of it again.

I have no prob with it

Funny thing though is when I first got into the MBBRL it was the first time that I played without it
at that time I thought if the big boys liked non decimal then it would be good enough for my gang
thus I switched my league over to non decimal by selling the interesting prospect of ties and the frustration it would cause ----sounds silly right. Well on Monday Morn it became fun to mock the teams involved in a tie

Here we are now headed to decimal and I'm all for that
I will also push my league to revert back to decimal from where we came

As for MBBRL I'm good if we use decimal
Bandit good idea I bet we change as it has easily won out in both dynasty's

its funny... I don't like the decimal... Never understood why people swear by it... to say that there is not a big difference between 99 yards and a hundred yards is said by people that don't understand what they are arguing IMO...
