Owner Bob McNair of the Houston Texans stated today that he is open to trading down from the #1 overall pick and still being able to get a quarterback and a defensive player.

This might hurt the Rams trade leverage as I can see someone trading up for Bridgewater and McNair still getting the quarterback of his choice - Manziel. As I've stated before, I believe McNair wants Johnny Football real bad!!!

What happened to the Texans GM - Rick Smith? Has he become a mute.

As a Texan fan, I hope we trade the pick and rob someone blind and, personally, I don't want another rookie QB. The last time we used the #1 pick on a QB, it didn't turn out so well.

Could be a smokescreen, but if they do want Manziel they can certainly trade that pick.

I agree smokescreen. Of course they are going to say that just encase someone would make a real dumb offer but i don't think its going to happened because there is no guarantee andrew Luck type QB. if there was the pick wouldn't be for sale... you didn't hear this from the Colts when they had the #1 pick and Luck was there. I bet they will be forced to pick at one. just like KC last year. this is why I'm glad the rams are picking second.

I guess that means you don't want his brother lol

I don't think it would matter to the Rams. Even if they would trade it and someone takes Bridgewater their will still be four teams sitting there right behind us that still need a QB so they will have to deal with us to guarantee him or someone like ATL or Oak might want to come up for Clowney.

Rams seek to draft QB Johnny Manziel or trade down.

If there is an ounce of truth to that rumor I say the Rams counter that rumor with one of their own and start talking about drafting Johnny Football!

That should put enough doubt in Bob McNair's mind to think twice!

If the Texans really want Johnny it would be offer risky trading the #1 pick to a team that needs a QB. Who's to say that team wouldn't draft him.

Can you imagine having the first pick in the draft and not getting the guy you want in the first round? :noidea:

Talk about over thinking it!
Especially if this guy ends up being the second coming of NFL QB's.

I agree. I think most were assuming Houston was going to take a QB #1 anyway; what does this change? The only thing it changes is that it potentially narrows the trade partners by 1.

vita, mtrcougar, shopson - You guys are right. I'm getting a little testy with McNair.

If the Texans trade down, there is no guarantee they get Manziel. I'm just pissed we'll lose the Cleveland deal to Houston - two number 1's! Anyone could trade up with us to get Manziel. It does just reduce our trade partners by one.

I think as long as Jacksonville doesn't trade up to number one, it shouldn't change much. They may also be going after Matthews.

Why smokescreen when you have the #1 pick. No one can stop you from getting who you want.

Your right smokescreen really isn't the right word because they would love to trade down a few spots vs picking #1. The problem for them is finding a partner because moving up to one is expensive. just to give you an idea. it would cost Jacksonville most likely their 1st next year to move from 3 to 1

I say its a 98% chance they take Bridgewater. If you think about it Houston really only needs a good QB and they could be a real good team. They have two stud WR (Johnson, Hopkins)and a good RB's (Foster, Tate) oh and i forgot they have probably the best Lf Tackle in the league D. Brown. not to bad to help a rookie QB. The defense is solid. with picks at the top of the rounds they should be able to improve. With a new coach coming in he will want a new QB to start with and this guy is a QB type coach. what a great job to fall into.
