A lot of my friends from college were from MD and I can see where he's coming from. I always thought it was more of a basketball thing.

Now that I understand, and I have seen that from time to time. But football? Even when they were good, I never recall any MD fans being annoying about the football team.

They are about football to a lesser extent only because they haven't been good very often. And there is a little bit of a rivalry between MD and WVU. I remember my friends being super arrogant heading into a game against WVU and then MD had like half a hundred put on them. Like 05 or 06 around there.
