Is Ketel that bad defensively?

32 HR and 17 SB in his first 155 professional games. That's pretty impressive.

He did make a lot of errors at SS in spring. I think he is no worse than Miller with better range, but if he can hit and use his speed as a CF I would be happy, happy, happy.

The thing is I have seen him make some really nice plays at SS that most SS wouldn't make but I've also seen him boot routine plays.

I think AZ nailed it with comparing him to Miller. Better range but less arm and they both make similar mistakes on routine stuff.

But I would love for Marte to take over CF, I think it fits his skill set much better if he can master it of course.

It would appear he has some pretty good wheels, that's always good to have if you're looking to move to CF.

So like Betancourt then? He could've been an amazing SS if he wouldn't bone the easy plays and put that stupid ass smile on his face right after it.

My personal opinion based on watching both play SS is Yuni was a much better overall defender at SS. However Marte is younger than Yuni was when Yuni started playing for the M's org. I also believe Marte has more athleticism than Yuni did. I think Marte could be a make a bigger impact on the Mariners than Yuni ever did especially if the Mariners decide to take advantage of the skill set Marte has. I think moving him to CF is a great idea. It is a way to find a spot for him on the big club, keep his effective bat and offense, and over time could develop into a solid defensive CF.

I actually watched some of the Rainiers game today and only saw one play for Marte in center it was a fly ball out to left center that he had to cover a little ground on, seemed to handle it ok.
